Personally I could care less, as I am 100% pro choice, but it won't look good for Bush. If it's true, they will just play it off like the parties, cocaine, etc of his "stupid youth" I guess.
Republican National Committee spokesman Yier Shi said: 'The Democrats will do anything in this election, judging by their campaign tactics, to smear without any evidence or background. This is just another one of those cases.'
smear? the dems don't have to smear. the GOP should be racked with scandal wide open in the public view. The stories just are not getting the kind of press I wish they were.

spaz
should, but they aren't...
and when shit isn't there, planting it is the ONLY choice
;-)
It won't be taken seriously even if true because of who brought the charges. It's orginally a Larry Flynt investigation and it would take quite a lot before the mainstream press went and ran with it.
Originally posted by Peaches@Feb 19 2004, 11:03 AM It's seriously getting to the point where no one will run for office because we ALL have skeletons in our closet.
Not Me !!!! The only skeleton I have is right under my skin........
with the exception of that time that I... and of course there was that other tiome... and then there was... (how can you forget that...great time that was)
Who else are Conservatives going to vote for? The people who are really anti-abortion are not going to decide to just vote for Kerry. Some may stay home, but not enough.
The 3 big issues this campaign with be National Security, Economy & Gay Marriage.....
I think Bush is pretty solid on all 3, and lined up with a majority of this Country.

BTW, Todd, everyone in this country is paying for abortions...
HAHAHA Classic line.
Hell for awhile we were paying for abortions for people in other countries as well.
I personally think gov't should not be invovled with issues like this ( at least before third trimester). However, I also don't think my tax money should be going to it.

Why is this even getting press?
Why do some feel it is noteworthy?
Why the fuck cares and what is the big deal?
Abortion is legal (and SHOULD BE FREE TO LOW INCOME MOTHERS)
No skeletons in the closet here but plenty Toys in the Attic

Regrettably, this perversion of presidential priorities is not limited to campaign rhetoric - it extends to how our increasingly limited tax dollars are being spent. Take the administration's new anti-obscenity push - a blast from our blue-nosed past. Bush's 2005 budget calls for a boost in funding for government efforts to crack down on the adult entertainment industry - one of the precious few non-terror-related programs to garner a spending increase.
I kid you not: While the White House is cutting back on its housing budget, veterans' benefits, and the National Institutes of Health, it's opening up the coffers to make sure you have a harder time downloading the Paris Hilton sexcapade on the Net.
But that's not even the worst of it. The Justice Department has recently assigned a team of FBI agents to focus exclusively on adult obscenity cases. That's right, with the war on terror in full swing, our war president is going to have a group of G-men doing nothing but working the porn beat when they could be tracking down - oh, I don't know - terrorist sleeper cells. Talk about your misguided allocation of manpower. I don't know about you, but I certainly feel safer knowing the feds are going to be keeping close tabs on Jenna Jameson.
We see the same loopy sense of right and wrong being played out in the Janet Jackson firestorm. Less than two weeks after the shock and bra of the Super Bowl, Bush's congressional cronies were already holding hearings on the matter. Compare that to the foot-dragging that followed 9/11. It took 14 months - and a candlelight vigil outside the White House by the victims' family members - before the president finally relented and the 9/11 Commission was created. Now that's indecent.
For the moral relativists in the Bush administration, the definition of sin seems to depend on whether the sinner can further their political purposes.
So Justin exposing Janet's boob is a sin, but White House staffers exposing Victoria Plame is a win. Profiting from porno is a sin, but Halliburton's wartime profiteering is a win. Two men getting hitched is a sin, but Cheney and Scalia shacking up in a duck blind is a win. Telling students condoms can prevent STDs is a sin, but lying about WMD is a win. And so, apparently, is GOP staffers hacking into Senate computers and Tom DeLay illegally funneling corporate money to Texas politicians.
Damn, finally found a reference to the topic that hadn't been pulled yet.......
although it does appear that only the Aussie papaers are running the story.....hmmm......
Bush abortion smear as mud flies
Phillip Coorey
February 19, 2004
PRESIDENT Bush faced an extraordinary claim last night that he once paid for a girlfriend's abortion.
The latest smear in an increasingly dirty election campaign follows a two-pronged attack on his likely election opponent, Senator Kerry.
While Mr Bush and Senator Kerry have so far steered clear of personal attacks, their unofficial supporters are stooping deep into the gutter.
Senator Kerry has already successfully shrugged off rumours about infidelity.
He has also been besmirched by photos falsely linking him with anti-Vietnam War activist Jane Fonda.
Now paralysed porn king Larry Flynt is preparing to publish equally dubious claims that the pro-life Mr Bush once made a girlfriend have an abortion.
The abortion rumour started last week when rap star Moby, who dislikes Mr Bush, suggested that Democrats attack Mr Bush in his conservative constituencies.
"For example, you can go on all the pro-life (internet) chat rooms and say you're an outraged Right-wing voter and that you know that George Bush drove an ex-girlfriend to an abortion clinic and paid for her to get an abortion," he said.
Now Flynt, whose last political foray was a hamfisted run for Californian governor, plans to publish the abortion as fact in an upcoming book.
"I got the story nailed," he said. "I've talked to the woman's friends, I've tracked down the doctor who did the abortion, I tracked down the Bush people who arranged for the abortion."
The trouble for Senator Kerry is the Republicans, who have their backs to the wall at the moment, seize on such material as sanctioned mud-slinging by the Kerry camp.
"It's only February, and they have made clear they intend to run the dirtiest campaign in modern presidential politics," declared Republican National Committee chairman Ed Gillespie last week.

or the same way he chickened out on the battle with ACACIA...

PD I understand this thought, but lets face it - who else would these people vote for Kerry?
Politicans are always being called on their hypocracy.... Bush, Edwards, Clinton, etc.... the core still sticks with them.

ENJOY -- and go easy on Labret -- he is only regurgitating what other idiots teach him.
it's a pity...TOTAL lack of critical thinking...

I am very pro-intellectualism. I have more respect for a poor smart person than a rich idiot. Teaching falsehoods under the guise of a tenure is NOT what most "intelligent" people call intellectualism, so to speak.
I'll add that IME, 90% of what you actually learn throughout life cannot even be written and published, let alone taught from a book.
