FAIL!! Not only was someone stupid enough to buy that url and use it for processing but they were too cheap to pay for a new logo. Yet you don't want people to get you confused with the "old ibill". I already did...the first time around! Some US people did get some money out of them, but being in Canada, I was fucked! At the time, we were running a few websites for some local girls and handling their billing too. Not only did we not get paid, but I made sure that all the girls were paid out of my pocket. IBill cost me a lot (as did PSW, WTS, etc.)

Wow, 160K.....that hurts. Hell, I "only" lost 25K to those 2000 charge motherfuckers. I think they are still around as well after all their promises to make restitution. Oh well...suck it up, but I never forget. What goes around, comes around. Personally, Danny, I think if they want to trade on the ibill name, they should suck up the ibill obligations...like pay you. Why don't you ask them.

We were using WTS for credit card processing when they lost their merchant account. This was way back. We didn't lose anything...other than all the rebills! Based on our standard retention rates back then, we probably lost close to $60K in rebills. It also created a lot of work as we had to e-mail everyone and try to get them to rejoin using another processor. Of course, only a small percentage did rejoin.

I remember they were fucking us around and I told my wife cancel 330 rebills in one day. Thank god we started a reserve fund from the beginning because for three months not a nickle came in.

I only lost about 10K to WEB800/DMR assholes back in 1999 because i had just launched my first membership site a few months before. Talk about a kick in the nuts, get a nice membership base of rebills built up right away, quit my job then boom fuckers stop sending checks. Although it could have been a lot worst, I was able to get my data base of credit card users from them once I had my own merchant account set up. So that minimized what I lost to just the checks that they stopped sending as I was able to keep rebilling my customers without asking them to sign back up again.

So I then switched to ibill for new sales... thankfully I stopped promoting my membership sites a couple years before ibill went under so I only lost about 30K in checks owed and lost rebills.

When you were dealing with 3rd party processors back then it was like playing russian roulette, there was no way to know which one would crap out. Which, if you chose anyone other than ccbill you pretty much got screwed at some point. If anyone does business with the "new" ibill, then they are fucking morons.

Yeah if you send out a letter saying " sorry but we will need you to sign back up again or your membership will expire on xxxxx " you probably get 9 replies saying " oh good, let it expire i had forgotten about it anyway" and 1 who actually went and did it. Asking people to sign back up kills your membership base. Ibill wouldn't hand over the information but I was able to get it from web800 back in 99 when they went out of business. The only thing that changed was the name displayed on the charge, other than that the customer didn't notice anything. Surprisenly enough i had less than 1% chargebacks... you would think more people would have charged back because they wouldn't recognize the name on their statement.

iBill has a really bad name as everyone knows, but iBill has been trying for years to climb their way back. Why don't the owners of iBill simply restart under a new name instead? It seems like iBill reputation is so bad that they will forever be spending alot of money fighting battle when maybe they don't really have to.
