WAL-MART, the world’s biggest company by revenues, posted a record $1.52 Billion in Friday sales at its U.S. stores, up 6.3 percent from a year earlier.

Wow, that's a lot of money to count.

Wal-Mart's net income runs about 3.8% of sales so that would be around $58 Million yesterday.

Wow. That's incredible. I thought their full year's revenue hovered around $200 billion. $58 million is amazing for a day's profit. Hell, who does $3 million in daily profits!?! Not many companies can do that. But then, Sam Walton had a very Japanese, over the long haul, type of outlook on his business.

He saw that profiting on volume meant more than high profit margins on low volume and in time the market really came around to his outlook. It's like he saw it coming 60 years ago. I can't see Wal Mart doing anything but increasing and increasing until they are doing $1 trillion in revenue... which we will see in our lifetime.

I'm really not a greedy person. I don't want the 1.5 billion... I'll just take the 58 mill

Well MY family got a little piece of the pie since the kid was working there that day (and owes me $$).

Well not really a piece of the piece - more like a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a minuscule piece of an atom which makes a small crumb from the pie....if even that big.

How's your kid like working there? I imagine you could end up pretty well off if you rise through the ranks for many years there and collect company stock along the way.

The bullshit you have to put up with isn't worth it, IMO. I've worked there as well.
Walmart makes itself out to be this happy family that's great to work for, and it's all bullshit. It's the same as working anywhere else, with the exception that you get together at the beginning of your shift and do stretching exercises and a stupid Walmart cheer.
You get your stock papers the first night during orientation and you can keep the stock (and buy more) after you leave - if that's all you're out for, a week working there will do it.

He's an uneducated 20 year old - he's lucky to have a job, IMHO.

From what he's said there are a lot of people who do climb the ranks there. But of course, based on their business model, there are always going to be WAY more indians than chiefly possibilities available.
