Years ago my Aunt took me to the mormon temple to do this, what a hassle. Hoping to find better results online.

Anyone know of any good sites for this type of research? I have no clue where to begin to look to start on a family tree project.

Very cool, thank you!

I will be checking out those links more in the morning. I'm supposed to be related to this guy:

http://www.theotherside.co.uk/tm-heritage/...liam-orange.htm

Will be interesting if I can track down any info related to this. My family is helpless when it comes to internet stuff so I might be able to surprise my Grandfather with some cool info. He left France in '59 and little family he had is dead but he's always boasting about some important family blood and money he was screwed out of.

He paid for a family research thing at some county fair and they gave him a list of all his kids here in the states, it was rather funny.

I think http://www.ancestry.com/ is the site run by the Mormons.

I can ask my father in law. He's been doing his family tree for two years now, has over 15,000 names, several times going back even into biblical times etc. He uses several resource sites. I will have him send me the urls and I will pass them on to you.

Be cautious, you might not like what you find.

I had one friend who looked back and found a direct relative who was a mass murderer.

If you're from the South odds are you might not be as white as you think you are.

nah KRL, I'm not from the south, that would be Fletch. And no doubt he has murderers in his family lines hahaha

My Dad is from France and my Mom's Father was a bright red-haired Irish guy, actually born in Philiadelphia I believe, but I don't know much about him either and almost all that side of my family is deceased. Not sure when his family arrived in the US. Both my parents ended up in California, and here I am now.

But I am actually looking for info for my french Grandfather who was born in Normandy, but I think his roots go back somewhere else over there. And it seems looking this info up is going to be a bitch, but we shall see.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I traced mine back to the 1400's and found a famous Italian at the time. My ex-wife traced hers back and found English royalty in her lines.
