Looks like everyone who is actively doing business still is too busy dealing with that business to post. I know that's the case with me, hard to spend time over here stirring the pot when I have two month's worth of work that needs to be done in about 3 weeks time.

here is a small clue for Joe and others... "business" has absolutely NOTHING to do with community. forums are communities. this place grew from nothing without any business being discussed here and attracted others because of WHO was here and who was posting... yet everyone continues to believe that it has to be about business to be popular. advertising to newbies is wasted money.

interesting people have to have interesting things to say to attract other interesting people with interesting things to say which in turn grows a community.

I'm going to have to disagree.

First of all I don't think "someone has put a muzzle on him" as far as Gonzo being not as outspoken as he might be... last I checked Gonzo was his own person, free to do or not do as he pleased. Maybe the situation has changed, but I highly doubt it.

Your last bit in there about how it "has to be about business to be popular" is ...amusing. I may not have been around as long as you, but GFY is pretty popular, and its about drama more than business from what I've seen. PC is about *glances in that window* According to the thread I'm in currently, its about how long its last been since one of their members last masturbated, and a bunch of other random and mostly uninformational threads (no offense to anybody over there, I do enjoy that board sometimes but I have to be in the right mood). MP has a rather unique flavor of celebrity nip slips (I've never seen a board quite so determined on posting the most recent updated celeb nip slips, as that one... its a fun board) Adult Insider has a really awesome little "BIZ" thread icon, *hint hint* and has a definite minority of "biz" threads on the board's front page at the moment. That'd be where I frequent the most often, probably. In none of these places, did I feel a sense of "community" from talking about business, and they're all pretty popular, so the only board that I can think of off the top of my head that has been popular by being only about business for the majority part, is GG&J.

As far as advertising to newbies being wasted money, not necessarily. I suppose it depends on what you're advertising. If its sponsor advertising, newbies are FAR more likely to see a banner for a sponsor & click on it & sign up & make the board money, than "old school" board members who have long since been signed up with said sponsors. (just an example) ...I'll admit too, that this is another thing that I particularly like about this board... there's a variety of types of banners, content, hosting, models meet producers, (according to the banner that's blinking at me right now) ...its not just ALL sponsors.

The last sentence is one that I can & do agree with. I'd put a LOT of emphasis on the INTERESTING bit however. I don't want to see this board turn ...uninteresting, like a lot of them are (For me at least, but then again I'm apparently a snob lol).

The style of humor & mentality that seems to be prevalent on this board in particular, is what draws me personally to it. I've learned more from this board than probably all of the others combined. For me, its a combination of being able to chat with people I feel I can connect with on a variety of levels, and learn things from my superiors about life & business both.

Ultimately, its the LACK of "irrelevant yet 'interesting'" threads and the presence of relevant AND interesting threads, which makes this particular board #1 in my books.

I seem to remember stories of peopl here running off shemp, and Platinumbucks, and stevelightspeed, and many many others that are far ahead of tem in this business now. where is the logic in that, I dont give a fuck what you like, I m not here to entertain anybody, I am here to find and do deals with people in the industry .

( this is not directed at you per se hellpuppy) it is directed at anyone that is not happy here, the two options are post somethng you like to change the threads if you want to , or leave and find somewhere else to post.

I have said 1,000 times, I know who has business here and who does not, so I am now looking for the people outside of here to come here and do business. if we have fun in the process great, if we do not, then there are several boards you can go to to tell them how fucked up they are, or how much fun you are having there .

In this case, being gone a week and then coming back to the threads that accumulated over a week while I was gone really made an impression on me. And it wasn't a good one. Sometimes you have to step back from something to see it clearly.

I opted to share the observation and hopefully stir some productive discussion rather than just step.

No muzzles here JR. Ive just been distracted for the last 6-8 months working on some of my own projects. The fire still burns but Ive pointed it elsewhere which I would be happy give you a preview of sometime soon.

In a sense I agree with points from all of you. The board has to find its own level and sense of community. We are long past the point where I personally make my mark and inject a dose of my personality into the board. Oprano is the sum of all of us...good and bad.

There are those that would have argued with you last fall that it was me and what I had to say that was killing this board.

hell no. I bought that place in florida because I knew it was a good investment, which it was, made 200% in 2 years. Sold that and bought something bigger and nicer. Still doing the farm thing.

I am from florida. I hate it there. Too hot and too many hurricanes. I have to go back next week for a few months. I'm dreading it.

yeah its a wire that goes to an RV I have set up for a caretaker. I wish I could have that photo with all that. I love that picture.

Yep a CJ7 and 1985. Its the BIG REAL jeeps. It runs and goes over just about anything. I need some work done to it tho to get it on the street. Once I do I want to paint it something funky. Don't know what yet but it will be eye catching.

Look up used cj7 in your area. maybe you can get one cheap and restore it.
