Yup, nothing is simple. You have to watch your ass to make sure no one rips you off (lots of things I will NOT outsource that I actually should for that reason). And then in addition to that, for what you do have to rely on others for you have to mitigate risks against someone flaking.

If it's part of a project, you cant commit to a firm date of delivery or go live until you have all of the pieces. I cant tell you how many times designers days 2-3 days, and it turns into 2-3 weeks.

For models, we always protect against how much we invest til they prove themselves reliable. Reliable ones get perks, lots of perks. Flakes get treated like flakes.

Gonzo has always ran this board well I think. the faults were in the haters that attacked it all the time and it needed to be cleaned out, now you are seeing the fruits of that cleaning as it grows with a good core group and is interesting and entertaining again without all the bullshit attached

I recently spoke with one of the Oprano Elders over the phone a few days ago, and we spoke a bit about Oprano for a few.
And he said something that really left me thinking for awhile? They're comments went something along the line of:
"They said Oprano would be different once the elders where gone. That no more busting anyones chops anymore,
whether it was a surfmaster or a webmaster."
I'm not gonna say who said it, if they want they can speak for them selfs. I'm just using it as an example.

But I really don't see much of a change since the elders are gone. I mean ya sure the elders that stayed at Oprano stiil ragg, knock and screw with each others, Thats all great and funny I truly get a kick out of messing on the elders that are left also.
But the way Scarie Crowie Guy and a few others that joined here have been treated?
Well I guess every new member is going to have to go thru some sort of explanation, reason and ragging why they're here. But when they give a true and sincere reason why they joined. And its not to someones agreement here at Oprano. Then they get all sorts of hell till they are vanished or ran off?
This is truly some immature and poor ass behavior from a bunch of so called Oprano Professionals Board Members.
And I just want to take this moment to say, GREAT WORK GUYS. Danggg I just love it at Oprano

Soooo. Your blogging forums is not for folks to learn how to make money using blogs (now one of the easiest ways for a newb to start in this business)?

There will always be room for newbs in this or any other business that is going to last. You cut off the newbs and you cut off new ideas, new ways of looking at stuff, you become jaded and tunnel vissioned out.

Competition is what makes businesses thrive and grow, it also takes some out, that is how evolution works. If the business does not evolve then it stagnates.

I am not in favor of trying to convert every surfer into a webmaster anymore than I am in favor of turning every webmaster into a programmer (my bailiwick) however, as you know, if asked the question I will try to give an honest answer and help a person along their way. Paying it forward as it were. If they become a better programmer (or webmaster) than me that is my problem not theirs. If they become my competition, so be it, like I said competition forces change, forces me to keep up with what is going on, forces me to think outside the box.

I might not always like it but that is the way the world works.

on one hand I love to teach people new things, but on the other hand I see the saturation that is in front of us and cringe

i don't know one tgp guy that hasn't said to me in the past 6 months that his ratios have gone down the toilet

when I first started blogging I could easily get 1:100-200 ratios, now I am lucky to get 1:1000, and that is a GOOD day

it pains me to help newbies, because I know 1 in 5 of them will be the next nastyboards.com owner and be stealing from me in 6 months to make a buck selling dating and cams sites

the business is changing in such a scary way, YES it makes me jaded

as for my blog forum, that is something I haven't really kept up with lately, but am trying to start again

wanna know my reasoning for posting in there, and other forums, again about blogging? because the more traffic I get to my blogging blog, the more I can sell ads to webmaster programs for on there....plain and simple...everything I have been doing lately has a monetary goal, and sometimes that involves doing things that helps newbies out, just the name of the game...in order for me to make money in some of the areas I want to make money in, I have to cater to newbies and idiots...again, just the name of the game

I don't hate newbies, but I sure as hell am weary of them as of recently

As for the board...i'd say if it primarily sticks to it's motto "the business of porn", it'll be fine. is there room for newbs in that? absolutely. is there room for curious surfers? well, i think gonzo has some better folders for that, but as long as they aren't disruptive having the point of view of our "customers" is definitely also part of the "business".

i think scarecrow started down a bad path by almost coming across as a stalker with the carly obsession and "how do i meet the girls" type stuff. little bit of a creep vibe there. anything that is threatening to the ladies of our industry, i have an issue with.

teaching newbs....

i'll teach them what is known by most of the adult community already. i wont teach anyone anything that is a competitive advantage for me.
