Yeah, I don't know what to think. Sounds like back-pedaling to me, but if I were in their position I guess I would want to explain my actions too....hard to say.

I've never been a DC fan, the only song I've ever liked was their remake of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" - and then only because my 9 month old niece goes bonkers whenever she hears it. lol

Sounds like they are still selling concert tickets, the banning of their music on radio stations didn't go over well (my Mom was one of the fans calling to have it pulled and our local stations said they weren't getting involved - lol) and every music group has its death threats, stalkers and weirdos at concerts. Adding a metal detector was probably something that was needed anyway for their protection. It's all part of celebrity. You can't enjoy the good without dealing with the bad.

If they are truly sorry then it's a BONUS for the American people - we didn't need 3 new Susan Sarandons out there in celebrityville stirring up more shit. lol One loud mouthed bleeting heart is enough.

I think it's ridiculous. Towns have been having "cd burnings" where they all destroy their dixie chicks albums. What a bunch of closed minded idiots people can be "free iraq" but jump on americans for disagreeing with you.

There was a tv show on about this last night and they ended it by talking to a bunch of soldiers...funny thing was that most of the soldiers just said "that's what we're fighting to protect.. the right to say what you want".

ya know.. and this isnt even just about these people disagreeing with the dixie chicks.. this is about trying to DESTROY somebody because you dont like what they say... south carolina tried to enact a ban against dixie chick concerts??? what is this world coming to?

There's an interesting editorial on the front of Michael Moore's Website that describes how sales at his movie and of his book have increased and that Dixie Chicks sales have not been negatively effected.

I like the dixiechicked.com guys attempt to avoid any legal hassle from the Dixie Chicks.

It is the right of anyone in this country to say whatever they choose. It is also the right of anyone in this country to choose to buy or not buy the products of those with whom they disagree. I wouldn't want any gov't, Fed, State, or local to attempt to interfere with that; but I would sincerely hope that people like Moore and the Dixie Chicks suffer a serious loss of revenues as a result of their idiocy. As for the country charts, you must have been looking at the old one...24 hours after their UK statement, their No. 1 listing was off the bottom.

Remember, free speech is only protected from GOV'T interference. Even then, it has its' consequences. If a politician says the wrong thing what happens? If he is in office, it depends on which party he belongs to; but if he's running for office, people DON'T BUY HIS PRODUCT! In other words, they don't vote for him.

Would you want it to be different? Would you REALLY want the gov't to say that you have to buy their recordings? If you answer 'yes', then you gotta ask yourself just what your own idea of freedom is.
