Default the value of promoting porn

It's a funny thing, I was searching around looking for a domain for a new idea, sort of a bit off in left field. I figured I would check for domains that might not be registered, or see what people who had domains that I thought were related are promoting.

The results were more than a little shocking.

So I figured, maybe I just hit a weird area, let me go try something more mainstream, current, and popular. So I started looking for webcam domains. I can remember back in the day that many of these were snapped up in a land rush sort of way, and most of the "wordcams.com" style domains were picked up in sweeps by people with bots and big accounts.

Well, the results here were about the same, more shocking.

The results? parking pages or completely dead domains with absolutely no DNS and nobody even bothering to send them to a parking page - and worse yet, parking pages that don't load for all countries either! Most of it doesn't even relate to adult or porn, it's just generic traffic with keywords selected to make the traffic valuable in some manner.

The concept of sending a cam domain to a cam site appears to be no longer a valid way to make money.

Sort of sad to see what it has all come to.

The affiliate model as we all know it is disappearing.

It already has. I have a few affiliates who do well. Most don't.

So, Jim....what will replace it, if anything?

That is the million dollar question.
I see programs producing their own traffic for years now.
And affiliates creating their own cash sites.

Rev share is a rough game these days as far as conversion.
WHile things like amazon etc continue to make me money where I promote them.

Thoughts?

I think the issue here is that for the moment, many of the programs (looking at Manwin, example) have the upper hand in generating their own traffic. That said, their methods (tubes with full videos) seems to be a bit self-defeating. I guess they can make it up in volume.

However, that dominance exists in great part because of the way that Google current looks at things like social media and related links. These companies have large staffs often dedicated to nothing more than obtaining links, creating accounts on chat boards, tweeting, and running "sexy but clean" facebook pages and feeder sites. They are playing Google's social media heavy algo to the very max right now.

There is always a place for anyone with traffic, even a little bit of traffic - especially if it's somewhat better than their current tube-fed and satiated users. For that reason alone, affiliate style programs won't go away entirely.

My guess is that brokers may become more popular, or "fronting" affiliate programs that will front for a number of sites on a number of programs which are not generally public. They will make percentage of sales plus probably be able to filter out some of the geo traffic to make more income - or get exit consoles or the like in the deal. But there will still be an affiliate model, just perhaps less direct.

Meanwhile, a stupid question: In dealing with Google, how far away from a porn site does traffic have to be to be "washed" enough for adsense? If I park an adult domain, can I 301 the traffic directly to an adsense site, or should there be another intermediate step in the game?

Ive always had the adult content 2 links removed for things like amazon. Adsense I dont know. I got popped years ago for trying to do that when the rules werent clear.

Google is very sophisticated. While they will take your money for ads they wont let you earn on their platform.
You can thank guys like Hooper and Dee for that.

Yeah, Google is a funny one - they charge absolutely insane amounts for traffic from ads, but their click rates appear to be so low as to be useless. Their only benefit (along with amazon) are being stable programs where so much of the mainstream stuff is here today, gone later today.
