Well... I din't mean to turn it into a "let's beat up Confucy" thread either....

I have always hated to see anyone just get beat on just for the show of it....

But at the same time, I really get tired of seeing someone who doesn't deserve to get beat on constantly being attacked just because they dare to post on a board....

I would love to see Carrie and Confucy just totally ignore each other for the most part.... Let bygones be bygones....

although a "beat on confucy" thread usually does pull those page views.........

Mitnick (have him on tape) addresses the ham radio crowd and tells them I have killed my uncle. I get death notices on my car. He tells the hams to get pictures of me and post them on the internet. Mitnick was responsible for a bunch of bad shit, and he tells everyone I am a stalker. Holy Shit! The FBI and the federal prosecutors know the truth.

Before I forget, voodooman, I have never thought of you as a typical employee. I have heard that Dig misses you. I know Anthony does. I think the Valley air got to you. It's so hot and ugly in parts of the San Fernando Valley. I'm not a big fan of Los Angeles. You have to head for the outer areas to see any beauty. I have relatives and friends in Daytona, Orlando, and Ft. Lauderdale. I almost moved there when I left Indiana, but I picked California and have never regretted it.

When you return for a visit, call me. I have access to a friend's motorcycle.

Yeah, the valley sucked, but San Pedro was nice, the short time I was there.

I still like the non humid SoCal better the SoFla, but its ok here.

Lee, I hope Hammer is on his computer so he will read about the latest curveball in the Lee Noga road to Sisterhood. He was very excited that the two of you were going to be sharing a very special day on Oct 5th. I still believe in miracles, and I know this isn't the end. I think you should contact the ArchBishop once again.

Sarettah, I have been waiting for you to announce that another hacker has been arrested, but I don't see it anywhere in your newly listed subjects so I'm going to say a few words about Adrian Lamo. He is only 22. Most of the time he is living on the street. Sometimes he stays with friends, and when he is in the Sacramento area, he sleeps at his parent's home. He attends the hacker conventions and makes a few dollars as a security expert. Unlike Kevin Mitnick, he actually does know how to hack. He has been called a white-hat hacker because he breaks into systems finding major holes, and then he turns around and contacts these corporations and helps them fix the problems. I don't think he charges them. Most are so grateful for his help that they don't have him arrested. He broke into the nytimes, and they seem to be working with the FBI. Mitnick was running from the FBI for a couple of years. He never turned himself in. In fact, one of the investigators who was with the FBI when they arrested Mitnick said that Mitnick was so nervous that he threw up and pissed his pants. That's our Mitnick! Lamo has decided to do the right thing. He has an attorney, and his poor parents are putting their home up as collateral so their hacker son can post bail. We will be hearing a lot about this case. Watch for it on CNN and FOX.

Well... when I posted the fact that a warrant was issued for him... It got one reply... yours....

I do pay attention to how what I post is received most of the time... If it is a topic that looks like noone is interested in, I do not follow up...

I was aware that he turned himself in this morning... Apparently, from what I know of him, he uses pretty much just a browser to do his stuff...

I had this same argument back in 99 with ifriends.... I was tripping around through their archives and was paying attention to the various addresses that would show in the browser when I would go to an archive link... So, I started playing around and pretty much figured out their naming and storage structure.... I found out I could get to any chathost's archive I wanted to and get to any pic I wanted to without ever actually going to the site... They had no or very little security in place.... I contacted them and let them know about the hole... They got pretty rude with me about "hacking" their servers etc.... (eventhough, as far as I am still concerned it was not a hack because they had made no effort to hide their storage scheme)... Upshot of it was that I waited about a week, checked to see if they had fixed the hole... They had not, so I wrote a little proggy and proceeded to download their entire chathost archives.... I then wrotethem a note and let them know what I had done and included some of the pics that were supposedly not available to anyone...not members, not anyone because the chathost had not designated them to be used.. to let them know about it yet again....

Again I waited a couple of days and they still had not closed the hole, so I went onto their boards and let the chathosts know that their archive areas were not secure and that they might want to be careful about keeping their pics out there.... At that point Ifriends noticed...lolol... They got pretty pissy with me, deleting my posts, etc... So, I rang them up on the phone and had a pretty long conversation with someone wo threatened me with lawsuits etc for breaking their non-existent security...etc...

A few days later I got an email apologizing over the whole thing and asking if I found any additional holes to please just contact them privately....

At about that point, I decided that being a nice guy hacker was not worth the time or trouble......

CJ, I have always thought I was just a normal person until I started visiting the boards. If and when I call you a bitch, it is said in a joking fashion. We are all bitches at times, and probably with good reason. The guys don't have a patent on anger and BS.

The term "ham" is a silly way of referring to an amateur radio operator. You take an exam and you become a ham. The word really does seem appropriate when you meet the *typical* radio operator. Most are middle-aged men who are overweight. Most in the Los Angeles area are into computers as well as radio scanners and radios. I speak to people in Australia on my radio. Many hackers started out hacking the phones in order to make free calls like Apple's Steve Wozniak and Steven Jobs. They were also interested in amateur radio.

Even Gary Kremen has a ham radio license. Marlon Brando uses a phony name, but he is a ham along with radio personality, Art Bell. I have spoken to Art Bell in the early morning hours.
