Confucy, you know nothing of Carrie... Not the slightest little fucking bit. I have known Carrie since back in 97 or 98..... She was running websites and doing HTML design back then, but for the mainstream side of the net.... She and her husband are both very nice people and they have a wonderful caring family.... They are quite self sufficient...... I believe (and this is conjecture because I have never asked Carrie straight out about this) that she turned to adult webmastering because, as many folks have found out, it is a hell of a lot easier and quicker to make money from your web skills on the adult side of the net then it is on the mainstream side of the net... Especially if you live in a rural area and are trying to make your living entirely "net" rather than having to go into the office on a "9 to 5".
As far as "women with young children being in porn" goes... Which is better, being at home building your websites and hitting the boards, or dropping them off at the daycare all day while you go work for the man ?? You know I’m totally out to my family and my son. Maybe not when he was young but now at 25, no problem. The boards serve many purposes. We market ourselves, we find like minds and it’s sort of a family. We often talk about our family, partners and lovers. No big thing.

Part of what I enjoyed about the community surrounding this industry was when I pleasantly discovered that most of the folks I deal with on a daily basis are also husbands, wives, parents and even grandparents. They are real people - not those "icky porn people" that the media tries to sterotype and make the public detest. It was so nice to see that bubble burst and find that the real folks behind the scenes - and how "normal" most of them are.
I guess I just don't understand why someone would think that it's NOT okay for a mother to be involved in the industry. By insulting parents - mothers OR fathers (there are a lot of stay-at-home-dads here too!) - folks who have children and are in this industry - you are insulting a HUGE demographic. I would say more folks on here have children than don't.

Nothing I do is illegal, I'm not content for anything (except JFK's pictures of me wearing my cocktails ) and I drove around a lot of kids whose parents couldn't be around because of work. I also spent a lot of time getting to know the nannies at sport practices because the parents couldn't be there due to work and many times I was the only parent at practices. My son was able to go an out of district school because of what I do - there's no school bus that could carry him so I had to drive him to school and back every day. That would NOT have been possible with any other job I've had.
I've found that almost w/out exception, the parents in this biz are MORE tuned into keeping their kids away from questionable websites, porn spams, etc. and spend MORE time with their kids than the average working parent.

And maybe it was just a layoff too.... You don't know and I have'nt asked Carrie, so I don't know. I do know that many many layoffs are actual layoffs. After a certain large Web Publishing company went down the tubes a couple of years ago, the company I was working for laid off half the people working for it.... 42 people got laid off... were we fired ? No... It was a matter of , no money coming in therefore we have to cut expenses..
Was the fact that I was laid off and someone else wasn't a reflection of my skills or value to the company ? No. The lay offs were done in seniority order.. Me and a friend had been there 2 years and 1 year respectively.. The two people they kept had been there 5 years and 4 years respectively....

further, I thought you stated that Mitnick was a lousy hacker...If the only way he can get the info he needs to attack you is by "social engineering", then you should be able to avoid it.....
It does not take a rocket scientist to protect a personal computer from hackers, viruses, etc.... It does however take a little bit of knowledge and awareness.........
You travel the adult webmaster boards which would imply that you consider yourself part of the adult webmaster community... either because you work with Payne, or because of Babe.net or some other reason... I would think that any adult webmaster that has been around as long as you have would have the prerequisite to be able to protect their computer....

But I've been working in "porn" since 1994 - 3 years in audiotext and the rest on the internet. You know I’ve been I the adult industry since the 80’s. My son was very young. During that time I woke up, drove to an office and came home. My adult/porn environment stayed at the office and outside of my home.

I published a magazine then so they went hand in hand. It started to make sense to get a larger house and work at home. I bought a 5 bedroom home and I and my secretary worked from the house. In fact when her son was sick or holidays she often brought her small son with her to work and we’d take turns.

D$ is interviewing Acacia and covering some hot topics I never thought he could handle. KB is writing scripts. YNOT Bob talked to a gay ArchBishop last week, and shook everyone up. And as far as Carrie getting her start on Netpond... I don't think so.... Carrie showed up on VNWR back in Spring 2002, as a newbie... She had a lot to offer in the way of knowledge and ideas... She also had a lot to learn, and freely admitted so.... Like I said, she came from the mainstream side of the net, so she needed to learn traffic generation, gallery building, the works... She contributed a lot to VNWR at that point (imho)... Because of her background in the web, she outgrew VNWR fairly quickly... at the same time, as most newbies do, she was finding her way around other boards.... She apparently found the Pond to her liking and turned it into a money making proposition.... There is no fault to be found there....
Like you say Confucy, you hang around the boards for entertainment.... Some of us use the boards as an opportunity to learn or make money....
