Rules:
Teams may build whatever they want, no holds barred. The only rule is the site(s)
cannot have existed prior to the beginning of the contest.
Modification: April 29: After discussing it among the participants, it has been decided that toolbars, scumware, adware, spyware (and associated ilk) are not allowed as saleable products.
The sites will NOT be submitted to SE's or Lists/TGPs in order to limit the outside
traffic as much as possible.
The sites may be tweaked throughout the sales period.
Content:
Teams may use whatever content they want, their own, sponsor content, whatever.
In addition, to help level the playing field,
Bestat of Exclusive Content
and
MaDalton of Amazing Content
have agreed to provide content sets to contestants that may need them.
Thank You Bestat and MaDalton.
In addition to that anyone using Depraved Dollars or Cloud9Cash as sponsors can get access to some special "Contest Only" sponsor sets that Red and Vick have graciously provided. Thanx Guys !!
Sponsors
The following Oprano Advertisers and Family Programs are recommended as sponsors in the contest:
(If I have missed any advertisers or Family Programs, I apologize. Please hit me up and I will add you to the list.)
Modified April 29 to reflect a group discussion. All sponsors my be used. While Oprano advertisers and family programs are preferred, sponsor selection is part of an overall sales strategy and should not be restricted. Further Teams do not have to reveal which programs they are using until the sales period of the contest kicks in.
Hit delivery:
Hits will be delivered beginning May 11th to a landing page on a url that will not be revealed. A script on the landing page will control the delivery of hits to each team's site.
In addition, each team may point their exit hits at a recycle landing page that will allow the team to receive trades on a one to one basis. Trade in a hit, get a fresh hit back.
Throughout the contest, there will be a pinned thread in either the main forum or
the help forum where builders will make daily progress reports on their efforts and may request help, advice and reviews from the general board population.
Judges-Umpires
There will be 3 umpires assigned to help verify the results and to be decision makers in any disputes that arise.
Currently the only official umpire is Dravyk of Content God and AllOfem but by the time they are needed we will have more on board.
So, Builders, Mentors, ARE YOU READY ????
Get your asses in gear and lets roll !!!!!!!
I would also like to thank Joesho, Inabon and Boldy of Remotethumbs.com
Joesho for the hit delivery and Inabon for volunteering Boldy's scripting skills...
Thanks Guys, you rock !!

[Middle English (an) oumpere, (an) umpire, alteration of (a) noumpere, a mediator, from Old French nonper : non-, non- + per, equal, even, paired (from Latin pr. See pair).]
Word History: Had it not been for the linguistic process known as false splitting or juncture loss, the angry, anguished cry “Kill the ump” could have been “Kill the nump.” In the case of umpire we can almost see this process in action by studying the Middle English Dictionary entry for noumpere, the Middle English ancestor of our word. Noumpere comes from the Old French nonper, made up of non, “not,” and per, “equal”: as an impartial arbiter of a dispute between two people, the arbiter is not equivalent to or a partisan of either of them. In Middle English the earliest recorded form is noumper (about 1350); the earliest dated form without an n is owmpere, from 1440. How the n was lost can be seen if we compare the sequence a noounpier in a text written in 1426-1427 with the sequence an Oumper from a text written probably around 1475. The n of noumpere has here become attached to the indefinite article, giving us an instead of a and, eventually, umpire instead of *numpire. The same process of false splitting is responsible for the forms apron and adder, originally napron and naddre, as well as many other words that once began with n. False splitting also caused some words that originally began with vowels to have an n from a preceding indefinite article added on, such as nickname (from the phrase an eke name) and newt (from an eute).
Main Entry: um·pire
Function: noun
: a person having authority to decide finally a controversy or question between parties: as a : one appointed to decide between disagreeing arbitrators b : an impartial third party chosen to arbitrate disputes arising under the terms of a labor agreement c : one appointed to mediate between the appraisers of an insured and insurer in order to determine the amount of a loss

Umpire (noun): The guy who is ALWAYS to blame when your team loses...if he didn't make such poor decisions they would have won for sure. (Also see: referee)

Originally posted by Anthony@Apr 27 2005, 07:17 PM What the hell does an umpire do, and is this what you wanted me to do?
An umpire would do what umpires do...
For most of the thing, probably nothing at all. At the end, verifying the results.
If there was a dispute of some sort, you might be called on to investigate and if you caught a cheater of some version you would get to blast em...Or congratulate them if it was creative enough cheating
I know I need some "impartial" folks to help, I know itt is always better to have an odd number, so there are no ties. and I know I wanted folks who have been around for a long time and most people would trust.
The person judged to be the MVP for that period will have 40,000 hits ( all targeted Adult , representing a rich mixture of SE hits and TGP hits) delivered to a url of their choosing over the next 3 weeks
Awesome stuff Sarettah and good luck to all involved.
Im very eager to see the diferance in all teams approach and also to see the benefits tagged with each.
Should be an awesome learning experience for all those who pay attention to the contest. For those who dont learn im sure it will be entertaining at the least.
In the original concept of this, the only prizes envisioned were the actual sales dollars and the learning experience.
Then Nick came up with the 15k hits Then I remembered that I had a $200.00 credit sitting with Tootie since last Fall sometime and decided just to make the pot a little sweter.
Now Lee has come forward
So, it looks like there might be some prizes to spread around between the first and second place teams etc.
So, I am asking Newton right here and now to be in charge of how the prize pot is split up among the winners.
I think its fantastic man and thank you for the opportunity to help out, really looking forward to seeing how inventive people get, the knowledge passed on. The prizes are looking excellent and i dont think the giving is finished yet
