by pure accident,
Sue was elected by the founder of Anthrax to be the manager of his new band 7x70.
Today we signed agreement with Daniel Spitz to represent him and his new band consisting of Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain, Megadeth bass player David Ellefson, and Vanilla Ice (Rob Van Winkle) as vocalist
If you have ANY suggestions about music business which is new for us,
don't be shy.
Meni, MikeW says you can be valuable in running the fan board for the group.
Wish us best of luck,
we are as excited as on the day I opened the first website
;-)))
Peaches,
I told 'em right of the bat,
my musical education ended up with Deep Purple and never progressed any further,
so they wouldn't hold it against me my lack of knowledge
;-))
but...LL, due to her son who forced her to listen to them all when he was growing up, knows 'em all.
Her degree in music conducting also helps a lot.
anyway...FINALLY, I have a boss to work for and as long as I am sexually harassed by my boss,
I should do fine
;-)))

I would probably know nothing about music past the 80's were it not for giving birth - kids have the amazing ability to keep you young while making you prematurely gray all at the same time!
Yes, it's true, Heavy Metal Band Management.....another service Oprano now provides! LOL This will be alot of work, but what a wonderful opportunity....very exciting.
I always wondered how all those years of being force-fed my son's music would pay off!

If ya ever need anything .......
I can think of few things...
1) your expertise in driving traffic to website
2) Dean's and MarcDe'expertise in non-adult and GAMING world
(Dan Spitz writes music for gaming industry, Grand Theft Auto has Anthrax song incorporated into the game)
3) Todd's expertise on merchandising/fullfilment
4) HiRise expertise on hosting/programming
5) KB/D$ bookings expertise
and anything and everything you can think of and offer,
as I said before,
we are NEWBS in music world, and newbies tend to listen to the pro's with the mouth wide open

This is going to be an awesome project ;-))) I grew up listening to all those guys during the peak of 80's metal .. so getting a chance to do some design work for them on their new collaborative project is an honor. The best part is being able to do some KILLER design work that has nothing to do with porn OR mainstream corporate sites. This is going to be fun fun fun!!!!
Oh and my deepest, most sincere thanks to Serge and Susanne for this opportunity ;-))) You guys are the best!

from what I heard,
merchandising is quite big in that industry
;-)
I estimate 1-2 months ETA of affiliate proggy, if all goes up to plan
excellent!!
by then there will be 1000's of pre-existing webmasters ready to promote a 'celebrity' product that's actually legal ;-)))
idea time:
what about an adult site, based around the backstage antics of the band ... take a bit of video of girls in the audience who flash their tits etc ... photos and audio interviews with the band after concerts etc
lots of tits & partying ;-)))
Excuse me.. would everybody please take two steps back from Serge and LL and let me see your VIP pass, I will then let you talk to them for 2 minutes. After that they are off to eat pigon's : )

Giving it a little thought ... not being a music industry insider but an avid fan with a little sense and having looked at the music landscape for many year
With the current demand of bands from the 80's
What you can reasonably expect from this undertaking
If 7x70 doesn't already have a recording contract in place it shouldn't be challenging to get them a record deal -
from my understanding the band usually makes 1.00 to 1.50 per unit sold (Check for yourself I could be wrong)
On name value alone, booking 7x70 on a North American club tour (local clubs - playing to 500 to 2,000 fand per night) should not be a problem - Obviously this gets them in front of their fans and gives more sales ops
Usual deal is flat fee and % of door or % of door
This is very similar to what many hair bands from the 80's are doing now (Vince Neil, LA Guns, Cinderella, Quiet Riot so on and so forth)
Merchandise from the bands is always available at these shows via a booth or table set up
The biggest challenge may be getting airplay - radio and or MTV or similar video outlets - that type exposure is what will help move 7x70 to the next level
Behind that with promotion (internet, radio, TV and live promos - like in store records signings and touring) reasonable sales expectations can be in the 100,000 to 400,000 record units sold - more if the band can get heavy airplay
Add T-shirt's, posters, other apparel and various sundries to items available for sale to fans
Internet marketing campaign combined with traditional marketing - get in front of as many eyeballs in all target markets as possible by all means available
Obviously please don't take this as gospel and as always due diligence
MikeW, KB/D$ and Sykk and a few others will be able to add and amend this

Vick,
you grasp the things fast,
those are SOME of my concerns and cheallenges I see,
it won't be a "walk in the woods",
I don't wear a rosy glasses and realize the realities well.
but....if we don't take this opportunity,
we'll be kickin' ourselves for the rest of our lives asking
"What if..."
the human nature is:
We always regret more about things we didn't do than about mistakes we have done, we are very forgiving creatures..when it comes to ourselves.
I'd rather kick myself for doing it and failing than for passing this opportunity.
Serge - like I said I think it's great, LL and you make a good team -
Also the music industry performs well in times of a stale economy - affordable escapism
What did you know about Signs?
What did you know about internet porn?
What you did know was people, human nature, what motivates and how to sell - combine that with enthusiasm and intellegance and you go far
Sometimes outsiders coming into a new industry can do well as they are not typecast/known - am sure you remember the lessons you learned coming into the internet industry
Actually contrary to what you're hearing here these performers are not really household names, they were bigger than fringe players in the music scene in the 80's but weren't the top draws -
and you may have to promote them by their names which have some recognition value as opposed to promoting them just as 7 X 70
Obviously something along the lines of 7 X 70 featuring .........

getting the opportunity go work with guys like that is exciting
BUT
I see the REAL excitment is getting into another billion dollar a year industry that is faceing internet isssues that we have already delt with
Piracy, p2p, billing, ect ect.
I think this puts Serge and LL in a position of strenght as they will bring insite to the end of the industry where the music companies claim they are loosing millions of dollars a year on.

Big congratulations!
Sounds like a great project and you'll do great.
A bigger obstical than lack of experience is Rob Van Winkle's mouth.
If every once in a while you can stick him in the ribs and remind him he's not as cool, tough or smart as he thinks then he'll convey himself better in public and the project will have a better shot.
Consider 1 CD sold already.
Way to crossover, this is one of the better non-adult ventures I've heard in a while
This is exciting news, congrats and I'm looking forward to seeing it all come together!
One thing though, when you talk to Vanilla Ice, please ask him how in the hell he managed to lose to Willis (Todd Bridges) in that Celebrity Boxing challenge!! :P

Good luck with the new project!
Sword, I won't talk to any of the guys if I can help it.
That's LL's department, SHE is a people's person,
I feel much better in the background

Congratulations and good luck with it Serge and LL!
And as a music buff (oh yeah, and being married to a hair metal band guy ;>), you really should ask them to rethink having Rob Van Winkle as lead...that's the ONLY problem I see with it.
