I love porn, I love parties, I love business.....
Why is it ok to SELL pee content and when you see it in front of you it is NOT ok ???
That's what I call typicall American mentality.
If it would have been my party and my boat, the guy would have been in trouble pissing over my furniture...haha
But, the guy is props hired by someone....he is just doing the job we ALL make money off !!!
Actually C.... they both work for Lens.
I know Kayla personally and she told me that Lens dared her to do it so she went for it.
Personally I would have made like Peaches and stayed clear of the waterworks.
However...it doesnt surprise me or shock me at all. Thats why I chose to go to Forest's as opposed to GFY.
Different strokes for different folks.
I expect to see most anything at these shows. After all we do work in the PORN industry. However I am like HP & Mike AI in the respect that there is a time and place for everything.
And as most of you know Ive made my own public shows of "awe and shock" to stir the buzz. I guess I shoulda stood at the keg at Forests house and drank while taking a piss at the same time.
it would have been more entertaining than hearing that shimpy dude yell at all the models.

Yeah, you have to be careful. There are definitely a few Americans I wouldn't shake hands with. Email me at colin @ pleasurelabs.com and I'll send you a list. Hope I can be of help.

But, I guess that goes both ways right ?
That is correct.
I think the differences are overly magnified by many though. Europe and US culture are remarkably more similar than say Japan and the US or China and Europe.
Are you sure you are used to it? ;-) ;-)

I had an excellent show. We already have some new business because of it which is a rarity on less than a week's turnaround in my experience.
I only went to one party - and only for a few minutes. Spent a lot of time on the convention floor, lunches, dinners, and so on.
My take is that either there is business there you don't have and it's time to get to work or you are doing business with everyone in which case it is good to manage existing relationships. I spent about 80% of my time with people I already do business with and 20% with potential new partners.
I'm big on shows and boards. I believe the value is always there.

Originally posted by LittleC@Aug 7 2003, 12:41 PM But isn't PayPal for example entitled to exclude porn / adult companies ?
If I use a bank here in holland and the bank says sorry you are selling porn we dont want you - they can not do that here.
That is quite interesting.
Should a society limit the freedom of businesses or people? Seems like a toss-up. Telling a business it can't exclude porn is also a limitation of freedom - of a different sort.
There are no right answers.

That is tru colin, and it is always nice to see the faces you do bizz with.
you have the luxury of being in a country where you can fly within a few hours to be at any show.
I made the decision to keep on building and expanding. Hiring more people, take a look in other business fields like tv, etc.
that is costing money and a lot of time.
I am hoping that people will take our products because they are good and making money. If my business does not survive because I do not visit shows I think it is time to do something else. (this again I do not mean negative)
I have a lot of nice memories of the shows I went too & I met a lot of nice people and got lots of business from the shows.
But Iif I would make it to Vegas next year I would love to invite you for a dinner ! I would love to discuss wit you the future of our business !!!

Oh, I didn't mean to that extreme. Your business is fine I am sure. You have a great reputation. I only hear good things about you and your company. You've been working hard at it for many years.
I am fortunate to have great partners that work really hard on stuff while I am in Vegas, Miami and other places.
Love to meet for dinner. Hope you are there next year. :-)

hhmmmmm.....I don't have an answer for that - you got me there ! 1 point for you !
It just works different here. As long I don't do illegal activities a bank is considered to be for everybody.
PayPal has accepted money from adult business owners and than suddenly they can say: we dont want you anymore thank you for your business, thank you for your money but you can GFY now...
what do you think about that ? I think that is wrong !

I have this dichotomous nature.
Of course I would like everything in the world to work to my benefit so I'd prefer PayPal to accept adult transactions. I think it should be their right though - even though that is to my detriment.

Why did Pay Pal stop accepting adult transactions? Ethics or because of chargeback difficulties? It wouldn't benefit anyone to force Pay Pal into an unprofitable business. If it's a good one, the possibilities are now open for a competitor.

I am new to this board, but been in the industry for a while. I just have one question ragarding parties of this nature (with the live sex amnd shit)....
Why is it a group of people that see porn all the time for a living, work around porn all the time and are at a porn industry convention, want to climb the walls and crawl over people to take all the pics they can of people having sex? Seems a little funny to me....the funnier thing is, when I see it right in front of me at a porn convention, or anywhere for that matter outside of my bedroom, I find the bar more interesting...

Because a lot of those people aren't in this business only for the money... ;-)))
now, give me two content models dressed like vampires and it might get my attention

I think the law has no business getting involved then. Forcing businesses to stay in business to their detriment will cause more problems than are solved.
Obviously there is a point where there must be protective regulations. The banking industry is heavily protected against their own stupidity ;-)

Originally posted by Mike AI@Aug 6 2003, 08:08 AM Colin, I remember those girls....
There was a little nudity and such, but it was very tame. Especially by todays standards.
Hey all!
Carol doesn't even remember that picture! Anyone know who any of the other girls are? The only person we recognize is dear old "Joe Liberty" (Lovey - only the old-timers will remember that one!)
The shows have changed quite a bit, and not to my liking. That's one of the main reasons I send people down and only attend occasionally. You can see it in the various message boards, with 90% of the "webmasters" talking about parties, and not the show or business. Yes, we'll like to party, and we have had some great ones (Carol & Serge naked in the pool at MikeAI's party in Florida in 1998)
The first party I can remember was the one JoeE held at the Clarion, when he had the strippers dancing on the tables. That's when his credit card wouldn't cover the cost (it was a lot higher than expected), and the hotel wouldn't take his check and anted to throw him out. Too funny! (for us at least).
I've always preferred the smaller, more intimate suite parties and receptions. You can have fun, hang with the people you like, and get some real business done. Ah, the good old days (Christ, I sound like my father!)

Danny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh my!!!!
Give Carol my best regards,
I wish I got closer to her in that pool,
I thought it wouldn't be our last time nekkid together
;-)))
but...I learned a valauble lesson,
NEVER POSTPONE!
;-)))
Originally posted by BradShaw@Aug 6 2003, 08:19 AM Things like this are the reason I did not attend Miami and may never attend another show. There is a serious lack of a professional business atmosphere. I think we are seeing more businessmen staying home, or doing private affairs at shows, thus these idiots stick out even more.
I also heard the open use of drugs was rampant. One thing to do drugs on the down low, it is another to do them out in public and gloat about it.
You have that idiots like easton who OD's on coke and was back at the hotel doing more coke the next day, and bragging about it on the chat boards.
One day a drug bust will happen at a show, and some innocent people will be caught in the middle. Limo gets pulled over full of coke, or a small room party where coke is everywhere, cops will arrest everyone. There are some people in this business with serious drug problems.
Wow Bradshaw you sounded like you should organize a union... those were bold yet Intelligent statements! bravo to you sir!

I've been to "real" business conferences that were the same way. The parties were insane, out of hand and filled with drugs, hookers and all vices exploited.
Everyone thinks these parties are the downfall of this industry? No, the downfall is shady business practices, the VISA monopoly, the bullshit billing tricks, the LARGE amount of free hardcore porn available, overeducated surfers and our whole taboo factor (of course, the taboo factor is what keeps us in business).
Originally posted by Sharpie@Aug 7 2003, 06:30 AM Did anyone else but me miss the fact that there was NO hospitality room this time? This type of incident is why. The attendees seem to have little respect for the obligations and liability of the sponsors. Many check their brains at the door or ' just don't give a damn.
I hope hospitality rooms are not a total thing of the past, because that is many times where some real business is done - but, I can't fault sponsors for not wanting to do it anymore.
Sharpie, I think most of the hospitality suites are usually in Vegas. Even there some of the larger companies discontinued them, because there did not seem to be a return on their investment.
Make big money on your Domains! Why wait 40 days to get paid with the other guys? Parked.com pays the most for your traffic, and cuts checks twice a month!

The blonde in the back and the girl on the other side of Lovey from Carol were the same girls that were dancing at JoeE's party. JD brought them - pretty sure they were from Houston. Can'r remember either of their names.
