that i can definitely agree with. i have been reading this board just as long as gfy and i am perplexed by the massive swing in online personalities. i guess i have always thought (as i have carried through live) to be yourself, never be fake, no matter where you are (in public, at work, at home, and online). being who you are all the time will never come and bite you in the ass.
maybe i am wrong, but i never felt or read the keyboard toughguy syndrome on this board. it's always been comparatively mellow and straight forward.
i was talking to my lawyer the other day and he said that within the next 2 years, the adult, online, biz will be the way it was back in 96. i am assuming by that comment, he was referring to the professionalism and dedication we all had at that time. and of course the money from that time wouldn't hurt either maybe by that time, we will see the extreme swing of personalities disappear and people in this business conducting themselves as so.

Gonzo, good idea, but there is one person I really dislike who has attached (advanced newbie) to her name. I lost the desire to ever use the word newbie again relating to myself after dealing with this bitch of a person.

Confucy, in all seriousness, I think that Lensman banned you not because of what you were saying at the time, but because of the time you were saying it.
He was already pissed off from Amp going overboard with his power and banning Brad (I would have loved to have heard *that* phone call), and he was getting more pissed as Brad wasn't coming back to post. Let's face it, Brad brings pageviews - lots of 'em, and the longer he stays away, the more $$ Lensman loses.
You were digging into Amp, who had already been in a position of having to be spanked down once that evening, and were getting Amp riled up again.
I think Lensman was just majorly pissed off to begin with and your comments hit at the wrong time, plus he was wanting things to calm down a bit after what had just happened and it was starting to look like Amp was going to turn around for a second "show of power".
Bad timing is all I think it was, honestly.

Carrie, thank you for the explanation. I didn't know whether Amp was serious or not about banning Brad. I really didn't care. I was just being bitchy to see if I would get a response from Lensman. I don't know him or Amputate. They probably work well together because I believe users will post if they see Amputate's name.
The reason I have been giving you a bad time is because I never understood why you didn't say something about me and Lee being banned from Netpond. Hell, we didn't do anything wrong. Lee announced her article. I mentioned it in one of my posts and congratulated her. The next thing I knew, Aga was changing my post to make it sound negative regarding Lee. I called him on it, and he banned the two of us.
What about the two years that I posted 100% on Netpond? I was even given a special code to use so the confucy immitators would be blocked. What about all the time Lee worked for Netpond and advertised their board wherever she went? Don't all the good times far outweigh the bad? I was actually hurt about that ban because I didn't fucking deserve it. I pushed buttons with Serge and Lensman, so I really can't defend myself regarding their actions.
Carrie, you didn't speak up for me and Lee. You are as outspoken as we are, and probably more so because you post more than we do, especially on Netpond. I think you were happy to see us get kicked out. You never hesitate to say what you think. I was waiting for you to come forward and say in the open that we shouldn't have been banned. You didn't.

Hmmm, I think I will whine and wonder how come Lens has never banned me from GFY, I have never thought about ramifications before, and now that I am I have the "Yips", which has given me posters block on GFY.
I hate having to think before I post, its not my style, and I have found Lens quite tolerable but then again I do not....welp...cannot say that, I do...go off on Amp sometimes because I cannot stand the gay bashing and I push back.
Confucy what I was going to tell you is sometimes when Lens bans somebody is more of a time out, whereas when N*tPond banned us its for life. Even on Oprano, it is not always forever.
Even if N*tpond un-banned us I would never go back, I believe they breached some serious ethics and I feel the same now as I did then.
I think the world of you Confucy, don't change.
It is all part of our charm :-)))
