Serious as a hard-on, no bull, no ass kissiing
In 1998, 1999 and 2000 I was responsible for publishing/writing two adult email publications (both opt in- really opt in no harvested email addy lists) one was daily with a circulation of 450,000 the other was 3 times weekly with a circulation of 150,000
The 450K publication had up 10-20 ads per day so I needed a lot of sponsors (and a lot of sites to rotate) so I tried many affiliate programs
The best paying sponsor was Intergal and all the sites in the Intergal family
Xpics paid well also - yeah I said it
Brad Shaw was just starting out about that '97-'98 and Teen Goddess did well also
Serge's Cash sites paid well also, better than about 75%-65% of the other programs I was using
The checks were always on time, always for the amount they were supposed to be, never had a question or problem with Serge's Cash or getting paid
and those are the facts

Not really related to CCBill topic, however I saw the PPS vs Recurring posts, so I wanted to jump in with my 2 cents about it.
Recurring is probably more strong in nature, since the payout cashflow is controlled. PPS is more complex because they are paying for much more than just the single transactions - and this is why I think the PPS game will have to change or continue the downspiral... if you only have PPS and try to add all kind of extra revenue (consoles, redirects, e-mails, xsales, upsell, shaving etc.) into the PPS payout, then it will only get hard and hard to do the high payout, because:
1. Technology is working against consoles, installs and spams
2. Bankers will keep making risky transactions more risky
3. Less webmasters will control more traffic, and they will get smarter - both filtering traffic away, and spotting shaving will be easy for them.
4. Surfers get smarter, still surfering with their dick in their hand, but also knowing about low trial/high recurring price, and how too cancel. Plus they will have access to much more free content than today, so why stay a member?
5. Possible tax issue down the road...
If PPS and processors continue with the old model, then in 2 years time we will probably hear webmasters who are saying something like this:
"You know back in 2004, then I was converting 1/1500 and got $35 per signup - sure alot of them shaved, but I made Bling Bling!! However today in 2006 I´m converting 1/5000 and I´m paid $35 per signup, and now everyone is shaving like mad, and I will probably need to work at McD... damn I wish it was 2004 again"
Not saying that recurring is better, than PPS - recurring will have the same problems, however they will not have to payout $35 per $1-5 trial.
The sky is not falling - yes you can still wake up each morning and milk the PPS cow, however in time that cashcow will produce less and less milk - no matter how hard you try to squeeze the teats... evolution

every business model has to adapt with time - that's obvious...but it's absolute absurdity to hear sponsors scream "revshare is where the money is" when you look at their exit consoles...
it's a bunch of PT Barnum wannabe's living out "do what I say, not what I do" and most webmasters are cognitively vacant enough to buy it.
get your money - get it in hand so you can use it to make more money...and leave the "big boys" to deal with the FTC - visa - bankruptcy in the future...they aint gonna go broke for any affiliates...any affiliate with half a brain that actually works will afford them nothing more than that same level of respect.
I've always hated paysite revshare programs. It's just asking to be fucked in so many ways.

those in the know are already changing their pps methods and as usually seems to be the case the counter intuitive decision is going to be the one that results in better conversions, higher/maintained payouts and less risk.
i'll give you a few hints on what will happen
1 - no more recurring
2 - charging the surfer MORE
when the narrow minded people are no longer running paysites the professionals will begin making MORE money than they have in the past few years.

Well, I can't imagine any program with half a brain would set the rebill option to 1 or 0 and just leave it, hoping none of there webmasters would get pissed off.
Perhaps however, they would turn the option to 1 or 0 for awhile and then turn it back to unlimited for awhile.... and perhaps they got caught while the shave was turned "ON"
