CCBill could stop .xxx dead in its tracks
Billing is essential for the success of any adult site, and third party processors are the life blood of the adult industry. That said, I would like to see them step up and help us defeat .xxx. It is even in their own best interest to do so.
I would like to put out a call for CCbill and Epoch to help the communities they serve. Since the .XXX tld has been rammed down our throats when we have been pretty clear that we don't want it, it came to me that we could actually kill it in it's tracks, before any damage is done, before any government blocks it, before any state forbids ISPs in that state to pass it to consumers, before any government forces us on to .XXX. All that has to happen is for CCBill and Epoch to refuse to bill for .XXX sites. That makes them worthless overnight. What say you CCBill? Epoch? Will you help the industry on this one? FSC...feel free to run with this idea..... |

But the same guy who forced us to get .xxx also has a plan to make what he called a "paypal for porn" billing system. So him and others would simply step up and make a different billing system.

Re: CCBill could stop .xxx dead in its tracks
Mike, I think you have it backwards.
Visa and Mastercard could "make" .XXX by forcing companies like CCBill to only process for sites on this TLD. CCBill is only a flea on the tail of the dog on this one, and they certainly aren't going to wag anything.

Re: CCBill could stop .xxx dead in its tracks
It would be a nice statement, but CCBill and Epoch both tend the play the "Switzerland" card in these situations.
At this point about the only realistic option is to keep it tied up in court, make Lawley spend more money on lawyers.

Just had a buddy tell me last night that he bought a membership to a site. This is a savvy individual 2.95 trial - verified for no hidden cross bills or bullshit and he used a virtual visa that was authorized for that purchase amount only. The issuing bank called him after an online pharma company was trying to slam his card over and over for extra charges for shit that was totally unrelated. Aint no bullshit to be called on this one. Only place they could have got that credit card data was from the processor as it was a number assigned for that purchase only. Can you guess who the processor was?

I never said CCBill *would* I said they could...and they could and it would be in their long term best interest to do so.
But nobody in porn looks long term...its always how can I fuck people as quickly as possible. |

Re: CCBill could stop .xxx dead in its tracks
Actually, what could stop .XXX is what was expected all along: Countries blocking it.
India has already announced that it will block .XXX. http://blogs.forbes.com/michaelhumph...stry-hates-it/ It is very likely that the standard governments in this sort of thing step in. All of the middle east, Australia, New Zealand, possibly the UK, Russia, and such are likely all to step in with blocking on this TLD. If you are buying an overpriced .XXX domain, you are flushing your money down the toilet.
