let me know how it works.. don't overthink it, figure out what is important to YOU and make it your first priority to fix whatever it is in your thinking or life that is making it hard to find your own happiness. once you can be at peace with yourself and the place you are in, the whole thing should get a bit easier. Understanding the self seems to be imperative for real happiness. Im working on it  Im sure you've encountered similar thinking in discipline training in martial arts.. see if it translates, you never know.
double date seems to be a good place to start dating. less stress.. common element, no pressure for conversations.

My single, no kids girlfriends say it looks like a man is looking for a mother for his kids. There are a few that don't look at it that way, but I just had a convo the night before last with one of them and that was exactly how she put it.

I'm going to piss off the single fathers here, but.....I make sure never to get involved with a man who has kids he doesn't have full custody of. I tried a few times, but it just gets WAY over complicated and I have enough complication on my own, thankyouverymuch. Unfortunately, IMO, that elimimated all men that I met with kids.
And I know for a fact there are many men who would never ask me out because I had a kid, and I understood that completely, so I don't think I'm being hypocritical
