"Sharon Osbourne: Wish I hadn't done show"

Ya know, I really don't blame her. When I first watched the show I thought it was a one time special. It would have drove me nuts.

NEW YORK (AP) -- If she had to do it over again, Sharon Osbourne says she wouldn't have invited MTV's cameras into her home.

The cancer-stricken matriarch of television's favorite dysfunctional family told ABC's Barbara Walters that she's calling it quits after an upcoming, 10-episode season is through.

"This is definitely the last year," Osbourne said in an interview that will be broadcast on "20/20" Wednesday. "We can't do it anymore."

MTV's second season of "The Osbournes" begins November 26. The first set of episodes drew record ratings for the network this spring and made aging heavy-metal star Ozzy Osbourne and his family household names.

Sharon Osbourne, who is fighting colon cancer, said the show has "changed us all so much." Her teenage children now have lawyers and business managers, she said.

"Because it's a moment in time, when we were innocent to it all, we went in feet first and you can't recreate that," she said. "Yes, now, this series, people will see what the first series has done to our lives and it will take people to the next stage. But after that, it's over."

There was no immediate comment from MTV, which was airing a special, "Catching Up with the Osbournes," on Monday.

The family hasn't exactly shunned the spotlight. ABC said Monday that Ozzy, Sharon, Kelly and Jack Osbourne will be hosts of the American Music Awards on January 13. Daughter Kelly has recorded her own CD that's due out soon.

Sharon said Ozzy has begun drinking again in response to her cancer.

"We agreed to do the show and so the cameras are here all the time," she said. "So it's a little bit invasive right now and we have no privacy. You know when you're sick, you want to be on your own? I can't throw up on my own and Ozzy can't get drunk on his own."

Two of the Osbourne children, Kelly and Jack, participate in the series. An older daughter, Aimee, did not. She told Walters that she worries about what will happen to her father if anything should happen to Sharon.

"I don't think he even wants to know what life will be like without her," Aimee Osbourne said. "And I don't think he would last more than a year without her."

That show was a double-edge sword for me. I've loved ozzy's music since I was a kid and it was great to see him on that kind of personal level, cursing out everything in sight hehe. BUT at the same time it was disturbing to see how dysfunctional his family was and how bad physically he's deteriorated over the years.

But society did gain one positive thing from the show. The Ozzy Drinking Game - the fastest way to get wasted. Simply take a drink everytime Ozzy says the 'F' word ;-)

There's a show they've started repeating on the Travel Channel where they go and interview the Osbornes - it's 5-6+ years old. The oldest girl is on it and the younger ones are little cherubs. But damn if it isn't the EXACT SAME FUNNY STUFF! Seriously! It blew me away - same cussing and everything for the TRAVEL CHANNEL!

That's what I liked about it so much (and not only did I never miss an episode, I even have an Osborne magnet on the fridge :P ) - these people are rich and famous, but they just don't give a shit - they're just living like they want to live

MikeW, I think you're way off on them being dysfunctional - I see kids growing up in "normal" households that are a LOT more messed up than those kids are.

I moved in with my Dad when I was 16 and he never gave me any grief. As long as I kept in touch with him as to where I was, he was OK. Drinking, smoking, pot, etc. - all fine with him. And see what happen to ME!

But the only 'commercialed' stations I'll view are Discovery, TLC, History Channel, A&E and BBCA - For the most part I ONLY watch movie channels - the Starz Pack is the best thing to happen to cable in the last 10 years, IMHO

I just don't watch 'regular' network TV and got fed up with mtv when they stopped playing videos!

That show cracked me right up. A person can barely understand the words coming out of his mouth when he's sober, imagine when he is wasted! Yikes! It must be a bit much for the family to have people in your face 24/7 especially when your sick....you know you've had enough when you can't puke in the privacy of your own home!

I was a little concerned when I first heard about the show, but after the first episode, I was hooked.

It should also be remembered, the reason Ozzy's speech was so slurred during most of the episodes is he had broken his foot and was on painkillers. He's still tough to understand, but when he did the episode where he's talking while eating the nice dinner, he's much easier to understand.

I like the fact they may call it quits after the second season, because it was already getting to be a bit of overexposure for awhile and better to go out on top than go out because they don't want you anymore. MTV killed some of their better series by running them endlessly and running them into the ground (just as they did and still do with certain music videos). Although, who can't watch the Christina Aguilera "Dirrty" video less than 5 times a day? ;)) I don't need porn, just give me a former Mousekateer trying to shed her "good girl image" and you have my fullest attention.......
