You get 3 hours of sleep each night for the entire week...then on Friday night you crash HARD.
Wake up 12 hours later and feel like Shit. I hate that. h34r: |

How about getting hardly any sleep, waking up with your daughter practically jumping on your head and uncontrollable sneezing! I hate my allergies when the weather starts to change.
Where's the sneezing smilie? |

The company I work for told me thats all I can have
sux! No seriously... I have no idea...I just cannot fall asleep. I have to literally pass out. That usually happens between 3 to 5 am or so. It has been that way ever since I was 14 or 15 years old. I usually spend the nights learning new things/reading/building applications etc. I don't mind it really because I like learning new things. Last edited by EricP at Nov 2 2002, 12:12 PM |

Eric - I know exactly what you mean. I have always been a night owl and find it really hard to get to sleep at a decent time. Even if I don't have anything to work on I will just sit reading boards and surfing. I usually end up in bed around 5am even though I know I have to get up at 8AM to get my kid ready for school. I usually drop him off then go back to bed for an hour or two.
Friday night comes and I go to bed knowing the kid doesn't have to go to school in the morning.. woke up at noon today.. AHHHHHHH |

HAHA Eric you do a great job!!
I am the same way, I am a night owl. I hate to go to sleep, takes forever... but once I am asleep, I normally hate to get up. Luckily I have a job where the most part I can stick with my natural sleep paterns. |

Most people don't require much sleep as they reach adulthood. The one thing I must always do, no matter the amount of slep I get is to do deep breathing. If you try this for one week, it takes some practice, you'll be amazed at your focus and how much easier it is to fall into beta (deep sleep).
Lie flat on your back. No pillows unless you have a neck roll. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath through your nose until you feel that you can't go deeper BUT suck in two extra inhales. Hold a sec or two, then slowly exhale. Imagine your exhale flowing into you body and when you feel that it's complete pushes two extra huffs out. Repeat. It's important to focus on your breathing and nothing else. Again, this takes practice and soon you'll find yourself really enjoying it. Sometimes in the middle of the day I'll sit back in my chair at my PC and do it for 5 minutes. Try it. Dianna

I've always had problems falling asleep - and I cannot sleep anywhere else but in a bed. Everyone once in awhile on the sofa I'll doze off, but it's very fitful. I "rest" in planes and cars, but can't ever sleep. It takes me an hour+ to get to sleep every night. Last edited by Peaches at Nov 3 2002, 09:00 AM |

There are muscle relaxation and breathing excercises that you can use to self-hypnotize yourself to sleep and they are very effective for people who have problems falling asleep because 9 out of 10 times people can't sleep because they are too tense. A shrink should be able to teach you how to do it. Melatonin works great too...

Always kills it for me and never comes back the next day... Should also fix your 'too much sleep problem' as there is enough cafeine in those things to kill an elephant ;-) |

I don't like taking drugs and as much as I love feather pillows they screw up my allergies. Muscle relaxation and breathing excercises work the best for me. Meditation is essential for me and I've done it for years and years. I started with a minute and kept doing it until I was up to 15 minutes. You'd be amazed how hard it is to keep your mind still for 15 minutes.
In Zen they say, "To know is to become". I practiced this for a long time but never could become Pamela Anderson. I love herbal teas but many people don't. They will definately relax you.
