Next time a 'roid boy steals some of your content....after your done busting them out on Oprano get them [and their resource board] shut down at the host level.
Sample form to Fax,email mail to the host can be found here.... http://www.seologic.com/worddoc/dmca-altavista.doc This was intended to be sent to Alta Vista but with a little editing will suffice to send to a host as well Id think. DCMA act for your reading pleasure http://www.copyright.gov/legislation/dmca.pdf Anybody got a better form letter to send?

We've done a bunch of 'em, never canned though. Different hosts want different things, plus you always have to describe the location, etc.
The two most frequent violators are people on Yahoo (geocities, etc) and MSN (msn groups, etc), both of them are quick to yank the offending site offline once you get the letter in the hands of their lawyers. DMCA requires you hit the following points though: 1) Signature of the owner of the copyright, or an authorized representative. Some will settle for "electronic", most will accept fax, a few will require wet signature be mailed. 2) Description of the work. 3) Description of the location of the violation. 4) Full contact info for yourself. 5) Statement that the use is NOT authorized by the content owner. 6) Statement that everything you stated above is true and accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the content owner if it is not yourself. |

One way to deal with stubborn or non compliant hosts is to send the notice to their providers. Going upstream can result in very quick responses.
