I have voted in every Presidential election since I was 18. I have never had to wait more then 10 minutes in line in Louisiana.

I am almost dreading going to the polls tmmorow. I have been reading about reports of 2-3+ hours in line in Florida.

Any suggestions? Should I go early in the morning or early afternoon? any ideas?

Also if you vote, post how long the wait was... I am curious.

I'm still trying to figure out where mine is - they moved it and now it's on Main street which thankfully is a small road, but still - with my sense of direction, I could end up in ATL somewhere.

Our lines will be long because all the retirees have all the time in the world

I think 45 minutes is probably the longest I've had to stand in line.

That won't stop a lot of them from voting again.

It takes them dead republicans a long time to vote. I hear touch screens don't like cold flesh.

We went down Friday and voted early and the wait was 30 minutes. Not bad, but longer than normal. Nevadans sem to be turning out in bigger numbers just in early voting. I guess I'm not the only one who doesn't feel like having my kids grow up near the nation's nuclear dump....or maybe they do...either way, Nevadans are expected to have their best voter turnout in years.

I do want to add this:

Almost every pundit, pollster, and predictor out there has said that the more voters that turn out, the more likely Kerry is to win (people come out to vote for change). Therefore, it is to the republican's advantage to make it as hard as possible to vote. The actions in Ohio, as an example, are a step to making it significantly harder to vote than it should be. Long lines and impatient people are the republican's friend this year.

If the turnout is solidly over 50%, the US will have a new president.

Voter turnout will be WELL in excess of 50%. However, the polls which show a tie assume 60% voter turnout.

Time to start blaming God then - they've already said to expect a much lower voter turnout where there's rain

Took me 40 minutes total, and that includes walking the six blocks to the polling place and back.

From what a friend said at the polling station, if I'd gone between 6 - 8 a.m., I would have had to wait as much as half an hour in line - too wet for the farmers to be working in the fields, so they all came early.

Yup, voter turnout is almost always over 50% for the presidential election which is an indication that is not the key point. The poll normalization by Gallup assume 60% voter turnout, for example. Anything less than that would mean better results for Bush and more for Kerry with the same logic extrapolated to the state level and the electorals.

I was in line only about 30 minutes.
There were people handing out Candy bars, soda and water to those waiting in line. We waited in the shade as well. Not bad:-)

Michigan and Iowa are predicting 70% turnout ... I think that other places are predicting like results.

If true, that would indicate right about 60% nationally since those states are on the high side normally.

I'll be going at lunch hopefully the line is only a 5- 10 minute wait. In line you hear neighbors talking about everything but the candidates or the issues.

The wait time at the pre-election voting site in my neighborhood had a 2-3hr+ wait for most of last week so I was a bit worried about wait times today .... well....

This morning's trip took 20 mins total, to find a parking spot, vote and come back home .. it was surreal, there were probably less than 100 people there.

It would have taken me 5 minutes, but I, of course, went to the wrong place - in a county of 20K people - so it took 15 minutes, is it really necessary to have two polling places within a block of each other??!! Pretty cool with the touch screen stuff And only in a small town can you not only have a candidate with the nickname "Milk Man" but it's also listed on the ballot. :P

I voted on Saturday. I was in line for about 30 minutes. I didn't think that was bad.. until my wife called me this morning and told me she voted today and she waited less than 15 minutes.
