That's how we got our start. I started my first BBS back in Calgary in 1988. Then had one in Nova Scotia, then hooked up with the guy running the largest Adult BBS when I moved back here to Montreal. In early 1994, we started playing around with this new WWW thing as we set up an early ISP here in Montreal and I had server space and bandwidth to play with. By 1996, we were pulling in over $30K a month from our home video sales and advertising on Carol's website. We started the actual pay site in January of 1997, and that took off far beyond my wildest expectations! It took me until March of 1997 to finally quit my Lead Engineer job at Bell Helicopters and start doing this full-time.

I really miss those early days when it was all so new and fun.

These days, I put out a lot of stuff in mainstream for travel and sailing, my hobbies. Make decent money from it actually, and it keeps me busy.

Werent yall running Wildcat back then?
I ran everything from RBBS to PCBoard at the very end.
I miss those days when people sent you a check to your house for access to NGS. [nasty greyscaled shit]
While some were just discovering BBSes we were both already on the web.

I remember one of our network guys became one of the first ISP's in the area with a "T-1" line, and several shelves of modems. He started with 30 US Robotics V.92 modems stacked on those click lock bookshelves.

Dude sold out a few years later to the local phone company for a couple mil.

I ran 2 BBS'.. One porn-related, one not.. and I developed a PCBBS clone.. Was also a millionaire by 23..

And I am, along with 3 of my business partners.. millionaires, by far.. regardless of if you want to believe it or not.. Might be bordering to billionaire, for the biggest one..

Two to three previous owners of this board are as well (on the millionaire end).. as Im sure you are aware of, even if you might like to pretend Nick@Ilynx isnt.. he wasted enough money on silly things, but he was in the (legitimate, of course) mailing game when it paid off big time.. and trust me when I say that there were easily millions per month in that alone..
