My real name is public record and easy to find with an Internet look-up of any of my companies. I used to use my real name in the industry, but no one ever remembered who I was! I changed it, on-line and at shows, to Danny Cox to match Carol Cox, and then people knew exactly who I was.
As for privacy, well, that went out the window for us a long time ago. Everyone in our part of town knows who we are, where we live, and who our children are. Luckily we live in a very open and progressive city, so it's really no big deal to any one. I know it would be different if we lived in a Bible Belt area, but luckily, we don't have to deal with that. Personally, I hate dealing with "nicks" in business. They are fine for a message forum such as this, but when I get involved with someone, I like to deal with the person and not the persona. |
