Hello Everyone,
For anyone who is interested, I have a few things to say on this subject, and a few things to say about the people who have posted it. First: KevinG, my friend Danny, RawAlex, etc. Thanks for the support. Our chat system allows performers and administrators to boot people out of the room, but its based on IP addresses. A person can come right back into the site with a new IP and email address, and continue being an ass. This person kept coming back and was so over the top with his threats, that we actually had to call the Police in his home town and speak with an sergent and file an official complaint. It finally took our lawyer to get the police to get up off their butts to go into action and visit him at his place of work. I was not told what happened after that, but I assume he was fired for (a) logging into an adult website from work, and (b) for threatening chat girls. We know exactly who he is because he made purchases on our website with his credit card, several times. His personal information was never released except to the police when we made our complaint. Now, you know. And now, on to other things. Shellee: You first posted this on your website 2 weeks ago. But of course no one goes to your forum, and so you persuaded Gonzo to post it 2 days ago. According to our attorney, this is a big mistake. As "Administrators" / "Owners" of these forums, you may be putting yourselves at risk. It's one thing for a "user" to post libelous remarks, but its quite another thing legally for the OWNER of a website to post this kind of thing. You may want to ask a lawyer about that. For anyone still reading this... (HellooooOoo? still there?) There are 2 VERY good things that came out of this incident with this customer. First, the antics of this person actually helped us to improve our software. In 2006, "anyone" could come in to LiveCamNetwork.com and chat, and pollute the chatroom with noise, begging, etc. The problem was: If we make our website "members only", how to we tease the new visitors into becoming paying customers? Our strongest selling point is the video quality and the performers. If we block everyone out, we won't sell. We did 2 things to fix the problem. First, we bound the USERNAME + IP ADDRESS + EMAIL ADDRESS together. If a user was kicked out, all 3 were blocked. Next, we changed our software again to allow "Visitors" access to the chat rooms, but disabled their ability to type. This let them see the other chatters, the conversations, and of course, the high quality video and the sexy performers. This exposes the new customers to our sales pitch, but blocks the beggars and haters from causing trouble! Another GREAT thing that came out of all of this is that this same person who made the original "press release" in 2006 also hassled other online video chat companies. One day in January 2007, I received a phone call from the president of that company. "Hello! Are you Mark Prince? Do you know this person? Yes? Can we talk?". This phone call has lead to brand new business that I am VERY happy to have. So that's all I have to say on this subject. Those who know me know I'm a weenie (and proud of it). I'm proud and protective of my little company and our little product, LiveCamNetwork, and I always somehow manage to make lemonade out of lemons, which is more than I can say for at least 1 person involved in this thread. CHEERS! Mark Prince http://www.2Much.net |
