Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen-year-old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy...the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess in the insane lament. My childhood was typical...summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent, I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds...pretty standard, really. At the age of twelve, I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum...it's breathtaking, I suggest you try it."

Somebody please explain to me how it took a wonderfully inventive contribution like this thread only three posts to go from Kerouac to Dravyk's testicles?

It's the way of the board. The thread has been Oprano-fied.

How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?

I like that one. I'm working on answering it. I actually have two answers and they're in conflict with one another.

Actually, my favorite quote has always been "Carpe Diem."

Coming in second is also Latin, the what will be most badly misspelled:
Illegitmi non Corburundom. (Something like that.)
It means "don't let the bastards wear you down."
My husband had it on a placque in his office when I met him.

"To err is human, to forgive is not company policy."
- sign I saw on the wall of the Homicide Department of the Louisville Police Department.

I was there so that a nice detective (who didn't have to do this at all) could take photographs of the bruises my then-boyfriend and I received at the hands of my downstairs neighbors who came up to beat the shit out of the "upstairs people" who kept calling the cops on them with noise complaints. This rather confused us (among other things) as we had never once called the cops to complain. We found out later the couple on our right had. They pummled the wrong couple. *sigh* But, I thought this board could really use a "good cop" story.
