That statement isn’t 100% accurate but then it’s not inaccurate either.

I think any person coming along these days and expecting to earn millions with ease is going to find it painful lesson to learn. Back in 97 it was possible to make the millions with just a few fancy moves, those moves can’t be used these days though.

It is possible to make a very tidy sum, however the work that’s needed to both make it and maintain it is massive in comparison to 97. Plus you’ve got to learn, implement and improve the “new moves” that people are using these days.

The money is still out there but there are so many people on the dance floor now that you really do need to shine.

As so rightly said in "Blazing Saddles" the bitch was inventing the Candygram.

I mean...shaving , skimming freehosts ,geo routing traffic , routing traffic by referrer and browser..timon/nixon inventing/refining the popup , my own AVS trick ...

I'd compare someone chances of making a fortune in this business to the chances of some kid from Manchester playing for Man Utd.

In the 70's a foriegn player meant Scottish , now the catchment area is bigger but there are still 11 slots.

Most either make millions and move onto non web ventures and do well.

I stated anyone thinking they can set up now and make the easy millions is in for a shock, there is no easy millions. It takes 3 – 4 times more work now than it did back then, or am I mistaken again?

I can’t be mistaken because there’s no Crescent anymore and the billing solutions have changed massively…

I didn't say it was easy to "invent" all the ways and means you guys did, I said that if you guy's hadn't then someone else would have - I'll give you the AVS trick as no one has really managed it since you.

You can't deny that the "one's" that made the millions had an extra bit of help with the fact that Cresent where buying everything they could.

There are some quality "inventions" available to webmasters now that make it easier to climb to the top of the hill, but the "work" is involved is harder. Purely because of the masses of webmasters out there and the surfers are more educated than they where then.

As for being prepared to fail, I'm not prepared to fail - but I would never rule out that something I do could take a nose dive into the shitter...
