I learned the appropriate defense to this kind of thing from good old fashioned, cloth-coat-wearing, Checkers-playing Republicans: "They didn't do anything that everyone else doesn't do."

This is the same logic that is used to tar all military personnel in Iraq with the prisoner abuse scandal.

I have a lot of Democrat friends.... My parents were Democrats until recently. The sad reality is the Democrats want to run to the fringe - the michael moores, babs boxer, kennedy, soros, moveon.org are the people ruining the party.
Who wants to be associated with these people and their kooky, not traditional views?
