Machine Gun Kelly, what is a TGP template? As someone mentioned earlier in the week, I am clueless....

holy guacamole! Mike, a template is a pre-done design for a TGP gallery, one you have some good templates, just drop some thumbnails in, upload the page and images and then submit the gallery to TGP's.

The reason designers are selling templates these days is because TGP owners are snobbish, many of them won't take ugly ass crumby looking galleries - more catering to the surfer, not only give them free porn, make it look good too!

so many webmasters aren't very good designers, thus guys like machinegun create nice templates, saving webmasters work.

he does good work, i've seen it, and his wife is CUTE!!!

i have a suggestion machinegun. On that design, the right hand side, where there is a large block of text - that should be a GIF not a JPG, it would be so much sharper, also a smaller file size usually.

whenever you have a section of a design with text, try to use a GIF.

I have often harbored the wish that TGP will die under it's own weight
i.e. with the saturation of free materail no one will buy porn from links on TGP pages and they will die

As of now it seems to be headed in that direction but the bigger TGP's have come up with new revenue streams including selling listings and traffic at very low prices

If the gallery makers can't make money hopefully it will collapse

Won't happen any time soon. When you can use free hosting, free content, and a free submitter the 10 minutes a day it takes to make a gallery makes it worth it for a lot of people. Most could care less that their conversion ratio is 1:3500 if they get enough signups to buy a couple of cases of beer.

Actually, until it becomes UNprofitable for tgp site owners there will always be gallery makers.

Of course, program owners could refuse TGP traffic ... that will shut them down too. But I don't see that happening, either.

The reason DarkDollars will be going with hosted galleries only soon is twofold, we can somewhat control the advertising and distribution of our advertising...for exmaple, I can convert TGP quite well (still, though not like it used to be) so it's in my best interest as a program owner to provide my affiliates with the tools to make them (and us) more money. If I can provide my affiliates with galleries that have made me money, then they make more money and send more traffic and I make more money...
what's killing TGP's isn't just that the content is free, but that it's free and the webmaster providing it, 99% of the time, has no fucking clue how to sell the traffic....they just throw up 12-15-20 pics and a banner and pray....but now with builders taking more time and building galleries that are more like an FPA than just a row of pics, a banner, a row of pics and another banner, ratios are improving quite a bit.....

I mean, that'll be the extent of our free promo content...
there will always be people we work with to provide them promo content, but we feel it's better utilized doing hosted galleries...it also allows us to measure what advertising strategies work best...

As much as I'd like to see less free porn out there, TGP's will continue, newsgroups will continue, IRC trading rooms will continue, but if we can somewhat slow down how our content is used (nothing is stopping someone from just stripping our content from ou galleries) we can help minimize the problems...

nothing is stopping someone from just stripping our content from our galleries

Sykk - you can stop site rippers, Net vampires or whatever you want to call them
By limiting files accessed per account to all your paysites
Problem obviously is that even if you have that in your T&C someone is going to cry (and possibly C when their access is denied for going over daily limit

are the TGP owners themselves, so we get higher listings

Don't think that is a secret, don't know if it's actually better filtered as much as is higher volume

Since your material is all original and very unique would guess you can actually get some sort of reasonable conversions

I don't claim to be an industry insider, and I can think of a few places where your information might shock somebody, but your post didn't suprise me. More and more mid-level tgps are going to sponsor hosted galleries and/or getting their galleries in a package.

Pornodoggy, the TGP owners are catching on - list a bunch of sponsor hosted galleries, rotate them around daily, and presto, instant traffic... someone else STILL pays the bandwidth, and you get the sales instead of some college kid with galleries on a free host.

Sounds sort of simple, no?

I would like to see all sponsor programs BAN TGP totally... or pay less for the traffic... Shutting these fuckers down will increase the profit for everybody instantly. Each one of the habitual wankers getting off at their sites everyday will suddenly at least have to CONSIDER paying for a trial membership.

In a perfect world there would be no TGP's or free sites or newsgroups or P2P software or IRC trading rooms....

As Vick pointed out, with us having unique content, we do well with TGP traffic, since we don't have the same generic sites everyone else has....I love the fact that ths business is coming back full circle where content is king once again...

One complaint we often get is "we don't know how to sell goth" so by us providing hosted galleries, we can sell it for them....we don't run the risk of our webmasters promoting with content we don't have inside (how many sites may have lost a recurring sale by a certain gallery attracting a surfer and for the site to not have that model in the site?)

Some programs increase their bottom lines by crossbilling and other credit card tricks...we do it by offering quality content and top notch customer service. We're getting ready to rid ourselves of trials because we don't need them (even on our teen sites...yes, darkdollars best converting site isn't even goth, it's 18yearolds.com ;)). While everyone else complains about all the free content available and shitty conversions, we just keep finding workarounds...look at Oxcash...a year ago, no one, outside of sublime directory submitters, knew who they were, now they are THE BEST reality site program out there that everyone else is scrambling to copy...imagine that, something UNIQUE....amazing that could happen on the adult net in 2002 ;)))
