Kimbo Slice Controversy

MIAMI - Internet porn company Reality Kings has responded to reports that the company was banned from sponsoring fighter Kimbo Slice in an upcoming EliteXC bout on CBS Primetime television.

The website Five Ounces of Pain broke a story today indicating that CBS and EliteXC made a joint decision to prevent Slice from displaying the Reality Kings logo in the ring during the live broadcast scheduled for May 31.

According to the story, the issue of Reality Kings' sponsorship came up during a conference call with representatives of the press.

When asked if there had been any discussion of banning Reality Kings from sponsoring Kimbo in the CBS television event, EliteXC Live Events
President Gary Shaw said, "Yes, Reality Kings will not be on his clothing. [...] We understand what's socially responsible, and CBS has a very high standard for standards and practices."

While such discussion may have taken place internally between CBS and EliteXC, a Reality Kings rep told AVN that the issue is moot.

"The statement that Kimbo was prevented from wearing Reality Kings on his clothing is not accurate," a Reality Kings spokesperson told AVN. "In fact, given that the target audience for the CBS Primetime fight may include viewers under the age of 18, Reality Kings never requested that Kimbo seek approval from CBS or EliteXC to wear the Reality Kings name."
A bodyguard for the Florida-based company, Kimbo sported the Reality Kings on his trunks in several previous EliteXC matches, including one broadcast on Showtime. He also appeared at the Reality Kings booth during the 2008 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo
