26/09/2003 Baghdad residents have a surprisingly positive view poll of Saddam Hussein's overthrow, with 62 per cent convinced that it was worth the problems they now suffer, according to a Gallup poll. Two thirds, or 67 per cent, of those polled believe Iraq will be in better condition after five years than it was before the American-led invasion. Only eight per cent believe it will be worse. Nearly half - 47 per cent - feel the country is worse off now than it was before the invasion. A third believe it is already in better shape. The United States and Britain come out of the survey of 1,178 Baghdad residents in a poor light. ---------- And that's just Baghdad. Kurdish areas are no doubt near 100% happy to see Saddam gone and one would think that Shiite areas would show better results too since they were heavily repressed by Saddam. Gallup sure knows how to conduct a poll. Last edited by Colin at Sep 29 2003, 04:11 AM
