i don't know about Canada's health care but the UK one has saved the life of two of my relatives. One of which happened to be an American visiting me. They were saved and didn't have to pay anything. A pretty good thing since they wouldn't have been able to afford it if they had to pay for it.
Even if it isn't perfect I would rather everyone gets some medical care than the majority go without any. Just pass me another tree to hug.
