If not porn, what path would you have chosen?

I used to work for a foundation that set up communication links with third world countries as a "technical assistant". Basically I fiddled with unix and internet stuff for a living and loved it.
The government stopped funding the foundation so I lost my income. In the end I found another occupation where I could continue to fiddle and still make money.
I guess I would have ended up working for some IT firm, or as a freelance nerd
Greetings,
