Land of the Dead

Evil Chris · 07-05-2005

I expected so much more from Romero.
His earlier zombie flicks were great, influential movies of that genre.

I thought the re-make of Dawn of the Dead was a lot better.
Land of the Dead flops.

TheEnforcer · 07-05-2005

I enjoyed it. Wasn't a classic by any means but it was definately enjoyable. Enjoyed that movie a whole hell of a lot more than I did War of the Worlds which bored me to tears.

Newton · 07-05-2005

sounds like one to avoid like the plague .. Isnt there an evil dead 4 coming out? with Bruce Campbell as Ash? fucking love evil dead lol

Bhelliom · 07-05-2005

"good ash, bad ash, good ash bad ash"

Gunshot blast

"Good, bad... I'm the guy with the gun"

Love it...

Lee · 07-05-2005

I still dont understand the mechanics behind going to see a movie about a bunch of mindless zombies.

Especially when you could just read a few posts over at the zoo and have the same effect

SykkBoy · 07-05-2005

I really liked LOTD
I liked the cameo by Savini and some of the nods to the others without the movie turning into an injoke-fest...I'll have to watch closely again the next time though because I missed the cameos from Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright (the guys who created Shaun Of The Dead).

While not as socially deep as the other entries in the series, it still had some subtle social undertones......and hell, GAR even kept the gore flowing free

Now, the studios need to get off their asses and let Romero make his movie Diamond Dead that he's been wanting to make for a long time...

no, sadly the long awaited Evil Dead 4 is on the shelf and Raimi and tappert are going to do a remake of the original Evil Dead (Sam Raimi, why hast thou forsaken me???)

Sadly..i have to agree on this one....being a rabid romero fan for almost 30 years this was his worst effort to date....done totally for the money...

Sykk you gotta be kiddin me. I expected you of all people to not like "Land".

Hell, they could re-release Story of Ricky and make more money. At least that film is honest in it's gore and stupidity.

I should come in and give a run-down of the best/worst as I hear it from my son who works @ the local movie theater. Land of the Dead had the most complaints since its opening - people asking for their money back, people getting pissed and throwing popcorn @ the screen.... stuff like that. Then again, it might be my area too - families, retirees and all the college kids are gone for the summer... so maybe the demographic isn't what it should be for a Romero film...

Anyway... glad you can always look for the good in a movie Sykk - I can always count on you to give an alternative POV and some recommendations for something off the beaten path. Its already out of our local theater (because of the complaints), but I will check it out on DVD.

Probably the same people who like running zombies ;-)

I must have seen it with a different crowd, because everyone seemed to enjoy themselves...of course it was a late night showing with older people who probably remember the original trilogy

Ah, but that's the fun of movies, not everything appeals to everyone...the only movie so far this year that I wanted my money refunded on was "Diary Of A Mad Black Woman" but then again, I'm not the demographic for that movie and probably should have known going in that I wouldn't like it ;-)

One thing you can say: At least it wasn't an Uwe Boll movie.
