it is called Snakes and Ladders over here. I used to like Candyland and Memory.
I am really tempted to get this book I heard talked about on the radio which is the story of board games. It goes back and finds out where they started and how they got to our homes in the west. Problem is I didn't catch the name when the guy was interviewed on the radio *argh*

One of her boyfriends ran something called Cow Pat Bingo. Oh well, atleast she helps me win 'my family is more white trash than yours' contests.

Board game wise I would have to say "Trouble" was my favorite when I was young. I do not really remember playing chutes and ladders, though I played a few weeks ago with my nephew - and I did enjoy it!!

I always liked - and still do - word games. Scrabble, Boggle - those were my faves. I also liked playing Yahtzee with my grandma, that was her favorite game.
My cousin & I used to get together once a year and have a Game Olympics. Non-stop board/card games for a whole weekend solid.
Memory
Operation
Don't wake the Baby (dumb)
Mousetrap - did anyone really PLAY that, or did everyone just put it together?
Monopoly
Money
Pick up sticks
Life
Mystery Date
Lincoln logs
Lego
Scrabble
Yahtzee
Now we have:
Uno
Yahtzee
Taboo
Trival Pursuit (first and last)
Monopoly
Scrabble
Pictionary
And I'm probably missing a ton of "offbeat" games my mother usually managed to find.
