Do you think conventional wisdom in business

I think that it is time to go against the grain, and find something inovative

a new untried method of traffic solicitation, and a way to reach the surfers.

What do you guys think,

is it better to spend your recources (time and money) on the same method of gathering biz as everyone else is? and just try to do it beter or out spend them?
or do you think it is better to try new things?

Mail traffic is dying and on last legs!
Exit traffic is harder and harder!
TGP, is well just that, tgp and we all know what that means ( is it getting better ? or worse? as more and more have a tgp)
SEO is the new vouge and hip thing ( however once the idiots keep abusing this and the SE's change things will the people that count solely on this method now be caught without a chair when the music stops? ( I say this for things like when you do a search for something like a farm animal for your school report, and nine porn sites show up on the first two pages! as they are more savvy than the people making sites with basic info on farm animals LOL etc...)( how long will that last? and of course someone will always push the envelop to the edge and beyond so regulation will always follow suit. ( is it jsust a matter of when and not a matter of if) so I pose the question is the same always better?

I believe the only constant we can count on is PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS WANT TO VIEW PORN and that number will always grow as the population grows, and as more people become confortable using their pc, and they of course feel better protected against the scams of auto rebills and the of yesteryear as visa , the justice dept and various others i.e. search engines for example step in.

Joe this is a good question. We have never believed in out spending people to get more traffic. There is another way. Its called quality product. Yes TGP's in general are going down hill but there are many specialized tgp's that do very well and are only getting stronger. If you build a product that you believe in and you support it maintain it and offer a fair opportunity for people sending you traffic to make money you will do well. The problem is what is well? Many people think they can start tomorrow and make a million. If you look at this like any small business in your neighborhood you will do much better. Think about this. There are the wall marts of the world. But many people for various reasons still go to specialty stores to buy an item you can find there. You still see appliance stores and hardware stores and many other types of stores. Many do not make huge revenues and the owners may not live in mansions but they do live well.

Branding your business as reputable honest and hard working is far more important then spending more then the next guy. This is true for several reasons.
1. Someone will always have more money to spend.
2. If you buy every join and work on small profit margins is anything rocks your boa you can't afford to cover it.
3. If you spend the most to get them in the door and cut the quality of your work then your product is crap and all the people you advertised and got in the door will walk out and you loose big time.

This is why I think we have grown so strong over the years without having to offer promotions, trial, cross sells, or PPS to make sales. Now there is nothing wrong if that is how you built your business. It's just not the way we believe on growing.

Joe with the best will in the world , regarding adult and getting consumers , there is nothing new under the sun.

TGP traffic is recirculated GRBAGE and people are picking over the sewer that is TGP traffic to try and find the few bits of gold dust left in it will never get rich.

Oh I don't want to hear that so and sos TGP is awesome and he must gross (here comes the inflated guess) $X,000 per month.......bullshit.

There is maybe 50 people tops that gross more than 50k a mth , solely from TGPs

Do you know anyone that can send 100 plus joins in a day?

I know a good few.

Not one of them is from the TGP world.

And these are not guesses...these are facts..I've seen there stats ;-)))


Mail traffic is NOT dying.
It is very very good still.
Like anything else , you just have to know how to do it.
I didn't discover the trick til I quit however ;-))
I know mailers that convert at ridiculous rates...ie 1 in 5. And can gain 100-200 joins a day sustained.However in the main they do not waste their time on adult.

SE specialists can make a killing , it is fresh clean traffic.
Its not the new vogue.AlmightyColin and myself were getting 100s of thousands of hits a day from them in the 90s.He sold his op , I let mine lapse in favour of mail


I count both the above as Golden traffic , requires very little work because the filtering has already been done.

There are phone rooms...brilliant for some products.

Real world advertising.Works great for some products.

I know a member of this board doing very very well on direct snail mail.

No one ever went broke underestimating the stupidity of surfers.

Nickatilynx I respect your opinion so please do not take this the wrong way. Your statement proves how spoiled and warped the minds of adult business men/women has become. What was the last carrier you were involved in a college kid or high school drop out could make 50k a month? Most people in the US are happy to make 50k a year. In some other countries if you made 30k a year you could love like a king.

To many people think making 4-5k a month is garbage picking. I make a very good amount of money a year but I would not turn down a chance to make a few thousand extra doing something I actually like/love to do.

The funny thing is most of the people on boards (not as true here as other places) don’t make anywhere near that kind of money. The ones who send 100 a day like you speak of are not on the board cause they are to busy sending 100+ a day.

I don’t believe that there is nothing that hasn’t been done. People said the same thing before the internet and before reality porn. However going out and trying to invent that thing is a long shot with usually a large investment. The most important point is thought that the guy that works at building a steady strong legitimate business model will be here tomorrow and revenues will continue to grow. If you keep you’re spending on huge promotions down and just work harder with your existing good affiliates you will make allot of money over time.

5k a month is a pretty damn good living , absolutely.

But speaking from my perspective , fuck that I hve expenses!!!! LOL ;-))))

I am fortunate.I have the resources both in skills and working capital to allow (fuck you just gave me an idea for another thread...) me to say...get 300 domains , fire up certain programs , lets try it and wait 8 weeks and see.

But I picture the TGP business looking like those river mines in Columbia where you have 5000 dudes all panning the silt trying to make a living , and I see SEO and Email more like Debeers.

SE's are getting smarter.... it requires smarter site building, and that DOES include quality targeted content that is ABSOLUTELY relative to what you are marketing.....

If done correctly, and targeted to the proper market, it does not take all that much traffic to make good money. ( maybe not nick's idea of good ;-) ) but several times that $5K figure...

Exactly!!!

Instead of looking for a fresh brand new idea , or continuing to tap out the TGP recirculated garbage , why bother when there are still veins of quality traffic to mine , right in front of you
