His basic comment was that this is "the last off-ramp" before the re-election process starts. I take that to mean that the Bush camp is making sure that nobody is going to jump ship in the 12 months leading up to the election, and that the "team" is committed to being there on day 1 of the second term.

I think you will see this summer and fall be the time that the tired players go, and the poor performers get ditched.

I'm not a big Bush backer but those posts are both quite demanding and it eats away at you. Now is the time for them to get out because the campaign for his next term hasn't really started yet and if they stay too long and leave they will get a lot of shit for bailing during a campaign.
