Just saw this review site http://www.livereviews.com/adult in another thread and i gotta say they have one hell of an interesting concept/site.

Slick presentation and production. Anyone know who runs it?

I just think they did a good job with the pay site review model and giving it a very slick presentation and production.

Actually the best concept I've seen for a while, for the average webmaster it won't be possible to just copy the concept

I actually looked at an idea like this about 5 years ago. The costs to produce the reviews (which go out of date really, really fast) versus the sales potential and use of bandwidth at the time made it a losing battle the whole way down the line. I am assuming with cheaper bandwidth now, it's possible to do.

My feeling looking at the review posted here is that the start is pretty good, and then the rest of it drags on a little too long. I would be interested to see what percentage of the viewers watch the full thing, half, quarter, etc.

I found it quite compelling myself. If a surfer watches that whole intro video they will likely be hooked into the concept and truly appreciate the reviews.

Just did a b2b article for an e-commerce news site that cites a study conducted by eMarketer.com, Nielsen and a handful of others re: video reviews/marketing to the consumer, and video marketing is really peaking right now. Not sure what that means/holds for the future, just in the past 12 months consumers are clicking on quality video ad leads and are staying on sites that offer video reviews vs. text or animated/Flash type presentations longer and are converting better - on mainstream/e-commerce packages mind you.

Anyway - interesting concept. Some folks I worked with in the past believed strongly in video to capture attention and keep people coming back but I never saw it. I think it depends upon the traffic/audience, quality of the video and content/marketing tools provided within the package as a whole that determines whether it works or not.

I'm with RawAlex on this one, I'd really like to see how long people stay/put up with the lag or watch the whole thing. Me? If there's a bit of lag I bail - even on news articles I'm really interested in or movie previews on Apple.com that I'm into... interest doesn't drive me, patience does. lol
