What's the market for selling business plans for non-adult businesses. I have a couple of ideas that are unique and new and could be builit into the $100 million to billion+ range. But I don't want to execute them, just produce the plans and sell out to the highest bidder. Any ideas or places to shop plans?

Jerry - send the plan to me. I'll execute the plan and make 100$ million and give you 1%. A cool $1,000,000.

I know at least in this area, a business plan isn't worth the paper it's printed on unless it's accompanied by proof of concept. Venture capital is out there, but they've all taken such a beating in the last few years that they're now quite gunshy.

Neither venture is internet related. I wouldn't want to try doing an internet startup with VC these days. Ones transporation and ones local advertising .

lets be honest here.

"I have a couple of ideas that are unique and new and could be builit into the $100 million to billion+ range"

you are talking about selling ideas. not plans.

Plans dont create revenue. Plans dont create businesses. Plans dont create business growth. Though necessary, they are just loose road maps and guesses built on a succession of assumptions.

Venture Capitalists dont invest in "plans". They invest in people. They invest their perception of a persons ability to bring that plan to fluition, execute it well, adapt to and overcome every obstacle in his/her path that may present itself.

Planning is one organizational factor of many that factors into the total success of any business.

Your logic seems to assume that Windows would be equally successful if Bill Gates would have merely sold his "plan" to Forest. Thats absurd.

Motivation, determination, intelligence, drive, leadership, management skills, organizational skills, business skills, marketing skills, recruitment skills, the ability to understand and predict market trends/changes, future growth potential etc etc etc. i could list 1000 things that are important factors in building a successful company that have nothing to do with a "plan"

a "plan" is worth zero in my opinion. an "idea" that can be proven, is another thing entirely.

JR, thanks for preaching to the choir, I alrready know all that. I run a business already that I happen to have a lot a fun at and make good money doing so.

I don't want to sell these to just anyone, I want to know if there is a market of experinced investors who can put together an experienced management team that can build a working and profitable company, but who want a new business idea and plan as a starting point. Is there anyone here who can tell me that without the business 101 lectures?

Is it just me, or is the idea of selling ideas to ppl who already have ideas that are making money a lesson in futility?

I seriously doubt there is much of a market for this.

Ideas have tremendous value jerry.

Don't sell them NOW though... follow Alexander Carnegie's lead.

Patent them now... pitch them to many people... and wait for somebody to take the idea & run with it. THEN they'll pay

Jerry, this is going to be so vague that its not very helpful i'm afraid, but this type of thing does exist ...

A few years ago i saw a feature on a company who does exactly what you just said ... they take people's business plans, inventions, ideas etc and hook up people on the other end who are looking for an extra business idea to expand what they have (or a tax write-off LOL).

I just don't get it personally, but this company seemed to have a very successful international business but i'll never be able to remember the name.

Hooper, that's a good idea Since you can patent business processes now, both these ideas may be patentable, then selling them is easy.

Wig, I'm not looking for people who have ideas, I'm looking for executives who have experience in building businesses but don't have the ideas. I've come across them in the past, but I was wondering if there was a forum for these people. There use to be, but I can't fnd the site now.

Thanks CJ, that's the sort of people I'm looking to hook up with. Now if you just remembered the name... :P

I used to work in venture capital banking drawing up business plans and working along side investors like 3i, Chase Manhatten etc. There is a market for this but you will not make big money unless the idea is massivily backed plus you will have to ensure you do not get robbed of the idea along the way.

If you think people in porn steal wait untill you get into banking. The 'shave' is always turned on FULL FORCE!

sorry ;-(

Pretty difficult to find something relevant, but I did a google search for 'buying business ideas' and got some stuff that might be helpful, if you can sift through the mlm 'business ideas' etc ...
