Default Post count matters...

Lots of drama floating around the past week or two. Much of it symptomatic of a long time perception issue in adult.

First off, post count matters. If you can brand yourself and create a familiarity with people online, there are many people in the industry who will equate familiarity with reputability. Your fame might even get you invited to some of the better parties at trade shows even if most of your sponsor checks come only once every 6 months because it takes you that long to hit the minimum pay out.

Now, you can take that to the next level, find 4 other guys to split a room with and make your way to a show. Meet some people in person, demonstrate your ability to drink sponsors liquor at parties and now you're a recognized player. Lots of people on the boards have now met you, partied with you and will tell everyone what a great guy you are.

If you're really good with slinging the BS, you might even score a job with a sponsor. At that point, you're pure gold, especially if you can get the sponsor to send you to the show and let you expense buying other people's drinks, dinner and dances at the titty bar. Dont worry if you dont have any credit, in many cases the boss will let you borrow his. Heck, use it to take your girlfriend out and buy her some stuff while you're at it.

I dunno, I guess I'm crazy, but I'm very mucha results and numbers kinda guy. I just shake my head everytime one of these guys has a public meltdown on the boards or even when multiple board personalities start feuding with each other over who ripped off whom.

Does anyone actually still sit down and work for 8 hours or so a day instead of just dick around on the boards?

What about those of us that don't give a rats ass about titty bars, parties, or working for anyone but ourselves?

Post count doesn't mean squat to me.

there are actually a few guys in this biz that have made it to a high level and started with just a post count.....very few, but they are out there

I actually wrote to the gfy admins to reset my post count over there, they wouldn't do it though....I would love to reset my shit to 0 every 2-3 months though

Post count matters to anyone that doesn't have a clue, but like you said, how can someone have 60,000 posts and still have time to work?

Fame? One thing I've learned around these adult industry people is the famous saying: "Money Talks, Bullshit Walks."

Now, you can take that to the next level, find 4 other guys to split a room with and make your way to a show. "What a great guy I am?" you mean as they back stab when I'm not looking.

Job with a sponcer? I thought the whole purpose of this internet crap was working on becoming my own boss. If I wanted a "JOB" I'd start Truck Driving again.

Just dicking around on boards? Well when a board post helping stuff like Morgan Grayson got paid to do: http://www.oprano.com/msgboard/showt...art+adult+site and lure newbies to join so they'll end up becoming bait food for the rich & famous posters.

Most of us with high posts counts also suffer from ADD
While you can talk on the phone, code, watch TV and answer emails and ICQs at the same time, I can post, answer emails, ICQ, do homework and take the dogs out all at the same time

And 8 hours? Who do you know in this biz who spends just 8 hours in the internet??!!

Well, if you use your debit card and it hits at the same time as your cell bill, you get your cell phone cut off at a show. Using your boss's CC is your only other option!

My personal favorites are the board announcements that some people make that they now reached their 1,000, 5,000, or 10,000th post or more. It's ok if these people have a balance of intelligent posts versus BS posts, but many people just come across as babbling idiots. It's good for sig exposure, branding, and increasing board stats, but are these people really taken seriously? That would depend on the skill some people have with branding. Are they leaving a positive impression, someone you would consider doing business with, or do they just appear as attention whores without a clue?

i don't know about anyone else, but I am a insane multi-tasker....I have over 20k on gfy, but I always work 10-12 hours days 6 days a week....right now I have 3 sponsors pages open grabbing hosted galleries, i am workin on 2 blog templates, along with submitting to various blog directories, plus I have my VNC open and I am remotely editing and converting video on my desktop upstairs....and all the while uploading content to my paysite and other sites from both computers

I love stopping about every 20 minutes and fucking off on some of the boards, and 5-10 posts in a few minutes isn't that hard when boards move fast

I spend all day every day reading boards, and I am a total board whore... and I am a wild man at shows. Give me free booze and a strip club and I am a total maniac... not.

Truth be told, I'd much rather be tinkering around the data center. There's lots of cool wires there for me to play with...

Oh, I can testify to that. It's not officially a show til Vooman is on top of a table wearing someone's panties on his head.

Move a couple of them around, see how long it takes LBBV to figure out what you did. Lots of fun...

Oh, and I do fully realize that there are people who have high post counts and still manage to be productive. They're a small minority though.

I multitask like a mad man myself. But when I'm heads down working, you wont see me on the boards.

That's not what I'm talking about, I'm talking about the guys whose only game IS the boards and whatever job they can syphon from that.

Another observation I've had is that most of the programs that have their staff really working the boards are much more stagnant than the ones who are buying ads and have good visibility but do not have actual staff that would qualify as "board personalities". The programs in the latter group are the ones who seem to be churning out new stuff regularly.

And not to beat dead horse, or dead Alien as the case may be....but how can you be a designer, do all the work yourself, be on the boards all day AND still meet client deadlines and expectations? No one multitasks THAT well. Alien needs a job. Meanwhile, Dickman, Envision, et al seem to be doing just fine, yet you also dont see them pissing on the boards all day long.

LOL I am rapidly approaching my 1,000th post here at Oprano! It has ONLY taken me three years to get it (work always has a way of creeping in and preventing me from posting) so when I hit that number.. it'll be the first board I ever hit it on... hell yeah I am gonna announce my ass off LOL

I don't have the time to post on all the boards either so I just fit it in where I can! Hopefully my posts are meaningful enough that the appropriate messages get across to my industry associates.

Man - I guess I should stop working on projects and type up a few thousand worthless posts so people think I'm "somebody".

The downside of that is anyone who'd be impressed by my post count - isn't someone I'd want to impress but what do I know... according to my post count, I'm new and don't know nutten'!
