It hit 132 for the first week I was over there in 90-91 -- and that was in October.
It's good training.

Now I know why they send so many soldiers from our 29 Palms base out here in the desert. We're used to extreme heat. The first year we moved out here it hit 135 and broke all sorts of records. We were hotter than Death Valley for a change.
On average it's about 115-125 between June - August, sometimes on into September and one year I remember it reached into October. On Halloween the kids' costume make-up was melting off. That's why trick-or-treating in the air-conditioned mall is such a big hit here. lol Speaking of heat.... reading about the heat wave in Europe that caused a horrific 100 heat-related deaths in France from 100-105 F heat... what's the deal? I realize it's record-breaking and everything... is it just that people don't have air-conditioners there like we do here - or what? |
