If you say that 4 months is time enough for judgements but you're still wondering whether you're making a mistake or not, then you probably are making a mistake.
Actually I'd say you're definitely choosing heartache and pain over a satisfying relationship no matter how you look at it.
Give her the ultimatum, you or the dope, see what she says and then watch what she does.
That should give you your answer.
