Would that include a total of 2 weeks? or 2 weeks at one stretch?

It's usually closer to two months. In 1998 I backpacked around the world for six months straight. Pussies do international travel for two weeks or less.... unless of course you're just seeing one place. Last edited by Joe Sixpack at Apr 19 2004, 05:33 PM |

I could have easily gone another six months but I had to go home because my travel funds were depleted. |

Oh yeah, I've got a whole bag of stones for those fuckers. |

Joe,
Not wishing to do a springerdude.... BUT.... I'll bet you whatever you like I have lived in more countries than you. (Lived = rented appt or home for more than 3 mths) And visited many more. Wanna bet? :) Last edited by Nickatilynx at Apr 19 2004, 06:12 PM |

I've travelled through 28 countries. Spent well over a year in total on the road. Lots more to see of course but I'm not doing too badly for 34. |

Gee ... I don't drink any more, but I certainly don't begrude anyone who does, and I am merely waiting for the rest of you to catch up with my consumption total.

When I travel I prefer to stay in a youth hostel instead of a hotel. I prefer to walk or take the metro instead of catching a cab. I avoid the tourist strips and find places filled with locals. I like to talk to people and find out how those in other countries see the world. Sure I like slumming it, but I've seen the other side as well. You know nothing about what I can and cannot afford. I just think backpacking is a better way to travel. |

How many languages do you speak then? |
Quote:
Doesn't mean I can't communicate with people whose native language isn't English. I know a bit of this and a bit of that but unlike the Europeans I grew up in a country that shares no land borders with other nations at a time where there wasn't a big emphasis on learning a second language. How many languages are you fluent in? |

I assume you shit there and gawk at them like animals in the zoo as you are unable to speak to them? ;-)))
Errrrr... I don't speak to every local. I speak to those I can communicate with. i.e. those that speak some English. In some instances, other travellers with better language skills, have done some translating. In fact, it's amazing what I've been able to convey even when there's been no language in common. |

You're BITTER because you never had the opportunities of the "Europeans" to learn a language You are therefore JEALOUS of them You WHINED about it by posting it here Thank you for accepting that you were making excuses for your lack of knowledge. ;-)))) |

So how much of the world have you seen?
You know, in all my travels, the one thing I always respected about the Europeans and Australians I met were their treks. I always respected the sacrifices they made to accommodate such a long interruption in their careers -- something I have not. Sure, many of them were doing it because they came from money and could get away with it, but many did not and I respected that because they gave something up. But in the end, you are still left with a person. None of the people I met ever called me a pussy or questioned my choices. That is the difference between you and me. Now, i am off to finish my 1997 bottle of Penfolds Grange. The last of a few bottles I sent many of my customers in Oz. ;-)) Good day mate! |
