Because of the Patriot Act and social conservatism. And we don't like where he's spending the money.

There's an interesting article in this week's TIME. Most of the top 10 most expensive drugs are for high cholesterol, high blood pressure and depression. One wonders if many of the people taking these could save $$$$ by eating right and getting non-drug therapy for depression. <_< I have a feeling that a very high number of prescriptions are being over prescribed and with the government now covering it, there's no reason for anyone to stop it. |

funny how in a two party system where the voting population is split pretty much evenly down the middle, both sides can be 100% sure they are doing the right thing and that they are correct while the other side is always wrong.
its got nothing to do with facts or reality... its just a primative defensive mechanism. |

i think either side can "believe" they are right and the other is wrong. but the "proof" is always subjective. as Colin said earlier, even a scientist who should in theory, be the most objective of people usually starts with a belief in something and then forms a theory or hypothesis and then keeps working through the math until they meet up with the results they expect to find that proves them correct. in the end, it just depends on which side of the story you are telling or which half of the evidence you want to offer as proof and which set of facts you choose to ignore. even something as factual, logical and objective as numbers can be used to tell horrible lies. saying Liberal vs Conservative is right or wrong is kinda like a Jehovas Witness saying a Seventh Day Adventists "has got it all wrong... again" Last edited by JR at Feb 2 2004, 02:00 PM |

I think it boils down to flavor of Jesus worship. Republicans tend to attract the more "conservative" Jesus lovers, Ashcroft types. And that is never good. |

Yes, and I find it more than mildly ironic.
Conservative xtian republicans hate every major leftist movement Jews have been involved in, yet they have to suck their cock for prophetic reasons. Israel is xtian tool, it needs to exist in order to validate the xtian take on the "bible". Once Jesus comes it does not matter anymore, they have not accepted Jesus as the true savior and they will all burn in hell. Assuming evangelicals are correct in their interpretation. I could care less so long as both sides watch their children, as well as their faith, die. Last edited by [Labret] at Feb 2 2004, 03:53 PM |

Sure.

But I don't like giving Israel a dime. |
The ONLY kudos I will give to Israel is they love their history and will protect the historical monuments to the death, although they tend to neglect any historical and archaeological evidence that stands to refute their claims.
Israel would be a great place if it were not for all the Israelis. I do not want Palestinians to control "Israel", nor do I want Zionists in control. When the Zionists are gone, then we can turn on the Palestinians. It is far too important of a place to be controlled by zealots on either side. |

God of Abraham, thats a good one.
Question. Since the OT is replete with stories of God allowing great punishments to fall upon Israel, and Elohim is always making threats of punishment, why do people not view that current conflict in terms of it being another punishment in a long line of punishments that your loving God has bestowed up Israel? If the "God of Abraham" was on Israel's side, would he not destroy the enemies of Israel in much the same way he did countless times before? I think its because none of you are true Jews, you are all converts. No covenant blood flows through your sullied veins. |

Judaism is kind of like the Catholic church and the energizer bunny. It just goes on and on and on. The State of Israel, on the other hand could evaporate in a heartbeat. In fact if it wasn't for the US, it probably would not exist today. Not science, just a pretty educated guess. Don't get me wrong, I am not denying its right to exist. I have been there a few times and I do enjoy the land and its people. I have even gone the extra mile to help out many refusniks in the past. But Israel feels kind of feels "temporary". And unless they take down that freekin fence, they will lose any good will they have developed and/or lost in the last few years. |

As for good will....fuck the good will, good will haven't get anybody anything in this life, only actions achieve that. |

They are stealing land with that fence. It will not last. Kind of like the Berlin wall. Its gotta come down. You know that, I know that, and the rest of the world knows that. Its just a matter of time. And we do agree about one thing today. They will be judged on their actions. |

by putting fence on their BORDER??? whatta you talking about, willis? judged by WHOM????? if they are obliterated from the face of the Earth, I don't think they care much about "judgements" and to avoid that fate, they have to do EVERYTHING to prevent it. |
"stealing land?
by putting fence on their BORDER???" That is a very, very arguable comment. Just because they say it is their border, doesn't make it so. Its kind of like putting a settlement down in disputed land and saying its Israel. It flies in the face of justice and international opionion. Ultimately, international pressure will prevail. No country is above that kind of pressure. That is what America failed to realize last year and is only now beginning to pay the piper. And that is your tax dollars, bud. |

I don't care about my tax dollars and how they are spent, I let people who pay very little or NOTHING in taxes to worry the most about it. As for disputes about land/border, what 2 words "Oslo Accord" mean to you? |

As for disputes about land/border, what 2 words "Oslo Accord" mean to you?[/b][/quote] This is only one piss ant board in a country of 250 million. I have no idea how much you make, but you talk about it a lot. Could be just a marketing ploy for all I know. Also, I am not quite sure how you arrive at that top five statistic unless you have access to a whole lot of tax records. In the real world, I am sure your income is irrelevant. Just spit in the oceandude. If you were an international player, you would not be posting here. The Oslo Accord....two words....they mean a lot. There are tons of agreements that can be quoted. "Balfour declaration" for instance. Its all history and an argument that just goes round and round and round. Kind of like who was here first kind of thing. What does matter is what will and should happen before more people on both sides die for what will be the obvious conclusion. Israel will return to its 1948 boundaries. The Golan will be Syria again. The Palestinians will have their own country. Not another "homeland" situation like the SA govt. gave to the blacks. And there will be peace. That is what will happen. Now how many people have to die along the way, is up to the armies of both sides of that senseless dispute. And as long as America keeps funding the Israeli war machine, the conflict will be prolonged. It is time the Israelis stood on their own two feet and I think settlement will come more quickly and fewer people will die. Oh and as for two words, what does Sabra-Shatilla mean to you? We gotta stop this two word thing. It could go on ad nauseum. |

There are those that talk and those that put their ass on the line for what they believe. I am always impressed by those who put "courage" behind their convictions. Chequebook warriors are a dime a dozen. Large talk does not save lives. It loses them. |
