The thing is there is so many parts to the singup equation. CC databases are hosed, surfers are scared of getting their CCs slammed, there is major scrub going on with databases that are inherently flawed.

So work with what one does have control over... it is ironic that TGP2 might be great, but we may never know since if its not the crazy scrubbing getting you, its one of the turkeys shaving...

The free hosts prolly more than any other entity can make TGP2 a success. But it's a big sacrifice. Webmasters who use free hosts are either newbies, hobbyists or idiots.
They won't understand the concept and will take their traffic as shitty as it is elsewhere.

Noble cause tho. If the really big players wanted to improve things for themselves they'd fund a full time anti free loader team of webmasters to do nothing but make the lives of those who give away free stolen porn
much harder.

It's going to take a lot of resources to battle this. All the new file sharing systems that have emerged from Napster's shadow are worse than free hosts and TGPs. Surfers want movies, big fat movies more than anything else. And that's where the action is now.
Funny thing is I know lots of still content providers like Suze Randall and Alscan, JMM, Brad, Mike who vigorously protect their coyprights.
But the riff raff from the pro adult video biz does nothing. I can go get
a scene featuring any porn star you want to name in DivX,Mpg or WMV formats that rival a VHS cassette in quality, better in fact in some cases.

Mainstream entertainment is spending hundreds of millions trying to stem the tide. But porn has alot more to lose than they do even.
With music and mainstream movies, people still enjoy going to the local Blockbuster or Virgin store and buying those products, it makes them feel good to have the jewel case and artwork and the store experience is fun.
Porn doesn't have that going for it.

I noticed when the one guy started talking about their tracking methods, etc., he was quickly silenced by the other guys standing there (Ashcroft, postmaster general, etc.). I think everyone will agree that stopping these people could not come soon enough. The process is basically the wether its a hacker or KP scum. It starts out like this:

FBI notified.
FBI receives hundreds of notices each day of illegal content,
not enough agents assigned to handle each one immediately.

FBI reviews notice to see if field agent should do initial investigation.
FBI agent does initial investigation - determines wether or not to open case.
FBI agents can be working on 5-10 cases at any given time.

Send notices to ISPs (or similar parties) telling them to preserve records.
Investigate, determine what information you'll need from the ISPs.
Write subpoenas to gather info from ISPs.
Confer with US District Attorney about case.
Adjust subpoenas based on DA's feedback.
Get subpoena approved.
Send subpoena to ISP.
Wait.
Get info back from ISP.
Compare records from ISP to records from other subpoenas sent to phone companies, etc.

Background check on subjects...include family members and associates.

Now that we have reason to believe these people are the people behind.
the illegal activity...next step.

Get authorization for agent(s) to go undercover as website member and/or webmaster
OK'd, probably with some restrictions.
Go undercover, gather info on site, content, communications, etc.
Log all images, emails, pages, text, individually as evidence.

Determine who does cc processing for said site, get subpoena for those records.
DA will probably bring up privacy issues, now have to prove that it is reasonable
to believe all members of site are there for illegal content before agent can
get records from processor. Repeat all above steps for each subscriber.

It goes on, and on, and on, and on.....

I have been thinking about the KP ring out in Texas, and also wondered why it took so many years. I also wonder why it only netted 100 people.

I was also curious as to which site it was, who was doing their hosting, their billing and other things. Of course the newsreports never provide this information.
