Yes...it is not abnormal for a thorough investigation to take that long.

I know of a case that involves computer hacking from 1999-2000,
and there still hasn't been any indictments yet. And this involves
just one person and a handful of victim companies...not 100+ people
like this case.

By the time they are ready to make an arrest they have every i dotted,
every t crossed, and know exactly how "deep" the case goes. The length
of time it takes to put these people behind bars is frustrating. By
covering all bases the Feds will a much better chance of getting
convictions. Many actually plea out before going to trial because the
evidence/case presented against them is so strong.

I was just reading in the paper about the 100 arrests for the CP website operated out of Texas. They said it was a 2 YEAR investigation...2 YEARS??!! How many children where abused/molested/damaged during that 2 years? Does it REALLY take that long to collect evidence to prove a case? It makes me realize that maybe these ISP's are telling the truth when they say they're told to leave the sites up after reporting them. Can someone with experience in the way investigations work explain to me why something this damaging would take so long to "investigate"?
