Sports squabbles can get quite personal can't they?Personally i don't see how anyone can support Johnson over Flutie. One wins, the other loses. End of story. NFL is a bottom line business and the bottom line is Flutie wins games and Johnson doesn't.

Last year the Bills were 8-8 with Flutie going 4-1 and Johnson 4-7. Last year San Diego was 1-15. This year Flutie and The Chargers are 4-2 and Johnson andthe Bills are 1-4. Again. Flutie wins and Johnson loses. Chargers go from the bottom towards the top. Buffalo goes from the middle of the pack to the bottom.

So where's the need for any debate??

Yes, I am from Holland. Dialers are used quite heavily over here for porn sites.

The national phone company is quite sympathetic this kind of activity and happily offers a product (called switchpoint) to facilitate this kind of activity. They've been supportive of "pay numbers" ever since the phone sex business took off, later followed by BBS systems that offered porn through a pay-number.

I looked into it a few years back and they even had an option where they did the hosting as well! Of course they also happily shared in the profits, but I have no clue what their share is nowadays.

An example of such a site is http://www.erotracks.com. They charge $0.60 per minute to the end user (which is a typical rate, I think).

There are also similar solutions for DSL/cable modem users. They have to call a pay number and keep that connection open while they browse the site.

And I know from experience that you won't make a penny if you send Dutch visitors to a US site where they have to pay by credit card. Or I at least I didn't ;-)

PDAs: There was a very good article in WIRED a couple of months back about the PDA and phone message systems in Japan. Having been there recently, I can tell you that everyone has a phone, and everyone spends most of their free time talking on the phone or sending messages.

The problem that makes services like this slow to appear in america is the "all you can eat" mentality in america. Unlimited airtime, unlimited minutes, unlimited messages... it makes it harder to get people to pay extras to get to content. In japan, you pay for every message you send... every service you access. This microbilling allows content providers to be easily paided PER SURFER for their products - and the billing is handled by the phone company.

I don't think that PDA service in America are going to be very useful until the payment schemes are transparent to the end user - it isn't going to work if the user has to keep typing in their credit card information every time they want to access something!

Just wondering if anyone else using Ibill has seen a huge increase in the amount of rebill declines? I've got members who've been around 6-9 months who are being declined and over the last 4-6 weeks my declines have risen to like 30%??

I got a PDA about a month ago - it's a cassiopeia (made by casio)
I can't tell you how much it cost coz I bought it here in Australia. It was AUS$950 - so what's that ? like US$400..

There are probably a lot more 'advanced' PDA's around - but I bought this one beacsue you can use it with an infared mobile phone.
There was a really nice PDA that was like $3k, but the mobile phone was built into it.
I don't know what sort of service your cell phones run on in the states but here we use GSM which is about to done away with when we get GPRS- DON"T buy a PDA that has a phone built in it, because it will be outdated too quickly when the phone services change...hell it was only a couple of years back when the digital took over from analogue.
With this one i can just keep updating the phone and no need to buy whole new setup.

Mind you when GPRS becomes widely available it will mean that a lot more ppl will be using mobile devices like PDA's.
Unlike WAP ('CRAP') where you pay for the online time - with GPRS you only have to pay for what you download, it's also a lot quicker (i think 4-8 times).

A few friends of mine are considering buying PDA's instead of MP3 players, beacuase it's really easy to transfer files over from your pc, and an MP3 player costs just as much, if not more anyway - so it's better just to get a PDA and get all the 'extras'.

Hey CJ - I have already made plans to do just that. Hopefully I will be able to head to Naples in Dec. for the winter. (This has only been the plan for about 20 years when I bought a condo down there - and it has been rented ever since) But, since I bought the house this year - I plan to make it a reality. Haven't figured out all the logistics yet, with the office here - but I am going to finally do it. I need the rest. Going to give semi retirement a try. Need the time to get my health in shape.
