For the record CCBill is not upselling your members per se.

At least two months ago we emailed ALL site owners to let them know that we had enabled re-marketing into the confirmation of cancel emails.

We also specified that the default advertisement would be into CCBucks, with the site owners pre-assigned code inserted, meaning that any sales generated would result in the site owner being paid on them.

The other two options are for the site owner to insert their own ads into the mailer or to eliminate the ads altogether -- options which are accessed through the standard admin. We also noted this in the messages in the admin section as well.

If you did not get the email, then the address you have given us is out of date, since we mailed all site owners directly off the addresses provided TO us by them. Perhaps you missed it in the messages as well, I know that I don't pay much attention to those when I check stats in other programs :)

The Party is over. I was talking to a friend a couple of days ago who works at a big bank. Visa has changed the rules on 3rd party processors. Starting Nov 1. They all have to be certified. What does this mean.

Posting the Credit Card is GONE, No MORE, Later. Like everything the CE's of the world abused in the worst way then Visa punishes everyone with new rules. Shame.

My Friend told me that Website billing is GONE. Think about it CE is one of their only customers and pulling this Shit Scam and they go over the CB area. SUPRISE.

Jettis batching. Nope they have also been Axed by Visa.

I imagine this week some of the big players will get the bad news that Posting to 3rd parties processors is gone.

Did you know that Visa Now also collects your CB percentage for every 3rd party processor. They now have the right to tell 3rd party procssors that TMF clients can not process with them also.

Serge here is my prediction. 6 months from now most of the major companies will have lost the ability to take Visa/MC on all their prize domains. Want to Bet

Hey Ron, have your lawyers read this. I do not need any more letters from attorneys to hang on my wall.

As I stated before, the cross-billing that is going on with SilverCash, and Ron's CyberErotica MAYBE legal. It is not my opinion that matters but what a court of law would hold.

Therefore Ron would not be considered "theif", and thus CE would not be "Stealing". That is for a court of law and a jury of Ron Levi's peers to determine not for me.

However in MY opinion, his billing practices are very sneaky, and put this indsutry in a very shaky situation.

This will be my last post on this issue. As I have said before, I like Ron, he is a good person, I just do not agree with some of his business decisions, including what I think is misleading billing.

Oprano uses Netscape's Website Garage counter. I'm sure SexCounter and PayCOunter do just as good a job or better using Netscape removes any doubt about Orpano traffic's validity.

Hmmm... just a historical note from a different business:

The Chevy Corvair was a revolutionary car. Rear engine, with an indepenant rear suspension that had never been used by the company before.

Ralph Nader exposed the fact that the Corvair was "unsafe at any speed" - that the rear axels could tuck under the car during tight cornering, and make the car roll over.

The fix would have cost the company about $10 (if I remember correctly) per car if it was done on the line.

It was suggested that the good legal advise that GM got on the issue was that it would be cheaper to pay off a few lawsuits and refund a few customers than to make the change to the car. Only Nader's expose on the car changed their mind (Basically, he changed those numbers to the point where there was too big a loss for NOT making the change, and this effectively killed off the corvair).

Many companies make decisions to persue marginal or borderline tactics knowing that the potential punishments if caught do not approach the profits being made in the meantime.

I will not engage in speculation as to the actions that VMI or Ron may or may not have taken. Just remember, a "cleared with legal" doesn't mean totally legal and moral.

Considering that IE6 basically blocks all counter cookies, and considering more and more people are using IE6, I don't see how you are accurately measuring these first time visitors.

Being a newbie (just over a year) to the business I am amazed how people talk in an open forum like this in such a negative way.
I know the world isn't made of roses, and I even have my competitors that slam me all of the time. I decided to take the higher road, and not focus my time and engery on playing their games. . .Instead I focused my business, and in a very short amount of time I have created honest long term win-win relationships and now have surpassed all known competitors in my niche.

Serge, you have a great active board here with many people I have not had a chance yet to me. I lok forward to coming back here more often to see what is happening (wether it is good or bad. . .it looks like it is happening here. :) )

Let’s face it Ron Levi is a thief. He has always been a thief, I bet even his former partner would say he is a thief. The reason more people do not come out and say that Ron Levi is a thief in public is because they are afraid of Ron. Ron has proven that he will use lawyers and abuse the legal system to try and inflict pain on people.

Mike AI maybe be an outspoken asshole, but as someone posted earlier he is usually right 9 out of 10 times. He just has no tact, shoots from the hip and is very rough in his presentations.

What I find amusing is how hardheaded Mike AI is. He seems to beat his head on the “establishment” about every 6 months or so. Mike AI, some advice: You will never change this industry. You cannot stop the thieves like Ron Levi. Right does not always win. Think of where you would be if you would adopt the same attitude as others, and “just get along”. 1. Add-on selling is pervasive in many industries. If you call Southwest Airlines and book, they want to sell you hotel or a rental car, from a different provider. If you buy a TV from Best Buy, they try to sell you a warranty or MSN at the register. I believe Amazon and others share credit card data, it's no different.

2. CE has been analyzed by the FTC. They aren't stupid, they're not going to sell something that a surfer doesn't have disclosure on.

3. I think Mike realizes that he jumped to conclusions. I encourage him to clarify his statement, and I'm sure Ron would like to put this behind both of them.

I can't believe the unfounded accusations leveled at Silvercash and CE, not to mention all the haters that
came out to support MikeAI.

MikeAI called me a thief and said that I steal. I really hope he can back up those two claims - otherwise
he will pay damages.

The funny thing is all the folks who checked it out were too cheap to hit the submit button, or they would
have seen our full disclosure.

MikeAI cost himself our XXXHOME free hosting business that he had, and also, we will be moving
8,000 domains away from Directnic.

Too bad, I tought he was a friend, he's just another Player Hater.

I believe he made this attack because hits to Oprano were down and he thought this would increase his
traffic.

He knew I would never post on his board - he can deal with our attorneys.

So who lost the most in his rant??????

The little analogy I gave below which seemed to be ignored is if it is OK to cross-bill for 2 sites why wouldn't it be OK to cross-bill for 300 sites? What's the difference?

Don't sweat it Mike. You know you are in the right. The people who do this are pigs. "Everybody does it".....how weak is that. Of course, not everybody does it. 99% of paysite operators don't cross bill in this manner. Look how hard Far-L had to twist himself into a pretzel just to rationalize it because he's in bed with CE.

Even the Big Boys who don't do this kinda stuff don't speak up because it might impact their business today or sometime down the line.

Sad thing is that they do this to the 1% of surfers who actually are willing to pay for porn. Vick's analogy about the toy store was great. If somebody pulled this crap in the offline world these same people would be all up in arms if it was there credit card being played around with.

Much bigger things to worry about these days. What I've learned in my life is that cockholsters down deep know they are cockholsters.

I think you hit on a good idea. If we put 300 sites together and if you join 1 you join them all, by the time you try to cancel from all of them at least some of them would get at least 1 months billing out of them. Most surfers can afford $9000/month, can't they?

This whole discussion tonight has been bizarre to say the least in that there is any disagreement.

You know I may be all wrong about this. I have a modest proposal.

I think we should all come together as an industry, and hash this cross billing out. I see the possibilty of everyone working together. There should be no reason that anyone in this indsutry is not successful.

I can see a time in the future that no matter where a surfer joins, he will in essence join everyones else's sites "FREE". This way everytime a credit card IS approved, EVERYONE gets a sale.

Think about it!! Are you tired of only getting a handful of sales? Imagine getting into the crossbilling business with CE and Silvercash. We can throw in Igallery, and Vivid. Hell if we all do it, we could all be millionaires before the end of the year.

My initial reaction was wrong. Mike from Silvercash, Ron, can you forgive me? E-mail me, we can do business. I would love an extra 2,000+ signups a day to my sites.

Vick you should get into this as well. Sharky you could build sites that ALWAYA convert!! Geeky, you need to get involved.

Far-L I know you must be 3 steps ahead of me already on this.

I can see the credit card statements of the surfer now. We could wipe out their entire line of credit in 1 transaction!!!!

I guess what doesn't make sense is that _everyone_ should be concerned about billing like this. It will come down on _all_ of us. The industry as a whole gets the blame, not just the person doing it.

Am I am asshole? Do I have a big mouth? Do I suffer from prematute ejaculation? The answer is yes to all of these questions.

All I did was point out something. You people should make a decision on if the questionable billing practice is ok.

Anyone who attacks me over these issues, I guess is FOR these type of billing.

You are sooooooo right! That is some great information about advertising and marketing, which is something I have a background in. you hit the head of the nail on your point you made.

The only way any advertising works is because of frequency. With frequency you create brand recognition, and an identity in the consumer. Once you become recognizable then the consumer builds an unconcious trust in your company, which then leads to them purchasing or participating in your product or service.

BTW. . .I would like to send you my pic too. . .if the offer is still good. . . lol. ;)

Earlier I read something about advertising on resource sites and print publications and now that I have a moment to post, I would like to share my 2 cents. =)

Advertising is Branding and it’s a tax right off. ;)
You should brand your product or service on as many places as possible.

If a new soft drink was advertised on TV today, and you only saw the ad once, would you drop your favorite soft drink to go try out the new one?
Most people would say “no… not really”
SO… how many times would you need to see that advertisement before it would make you start to think about testing out the new product? 5 times, 10 times? Would it have to be over a period of time too?
9 out of 10 would say “yes”…
That is exactly how advertising works.

You need to reprogram the webmasters minds to stop thinking about their “old favorite” and start getting curious about yours. So wouldn’t you agree… not even you, would probably jump on a new product or service if you were not familiar with it first.
