____Long post____
Serge and Web father
I am moving my servers to a new facility in South Florida I got a pretty good price on bandwidth ($130 perMb/s CO-LO) so I've been getting ready for moving day. "today"
2 weeks ago had to provide proof of the domain names I own so I could get a couple of /24 blocks of IPs.
I call up the company this morning and they tell me there are some issues that must be worked out internally and they would get back to me.
So I call them back at 3:30 and say OK what gives.
Get this, their lawyers are telling them not to provide me with bandwidth because some of my URLs are pretty heavy adult names, they knew ZMASTER was an adult company they said it was acceptable "They called me to do business".
They took my cash fast enough!!!
I am massively pissed off.
Contacted my lawyer, He's smiling his ass off, I'M GLAD SOMEONE IS!!!
I need to move my servers 'cause the facility I'm hosting with currently is on shaky ground $$$ and I need to get out soon "like today would be nice".
Any advice on good companies with cheap, dependable bandwidth in South Florida would be helpful.

Lee: I think you're partly right, of course, but whenever I have used resources with a full intention of doing some shopping, I look through most everything. And I think that any webmaster would do the same.. even a newbie. We all want to know what's available out there, and what costs how much compared to their next-door-neighbour.

Evil Chris, free listings is a
great venue for marketing, I agree
but webmasters have this problem
called, "Time" and they probably
use only 30% of any resource site
and don't take the time to drill
down into the infrastructure where
the good stuff grows.
Plus if one does not get listed
in the first page of links, your
not going to get the best of
returns...
There is more demand then spots
available on top resource sites.
There is a reason for this :-)

Chris I am in a different boat then most webmasters. I do not send traffic to people unless I work out a unique deal.
That is like asking JoeE, or RB how many programs they click on. I do not think the advertising is for webmasters like this.
http://ambucks.com has been advertising on Oprano for a few weeks EXCLUSIVELY, and has seen a very nice return.
Is it the same return that would have been generated 2-3 years ago?? Nope, but this is 2001... where the webmasters are becoming devided to haves and have nots in traffic....
Wed, 24 Oct - 15:05:44 66.21.169.197 Post #: 26258
Lee... I don't agree with that at all! Webmaster resources give the best results when you are simply listed in the free listings. Having your name ALL OVER every single resource area means that you have a huge advertising budget. And yes, print ads are a very tough go indeed.
MikeAI: uuhhhh... sorry! One of my HTML guys screwed up! :-)
Good thing your guy was on the ball last week...

If you thought that Oprano was so weak in advertsing,

Serge, exactly. You know I refused to publish numbers the first two months as I didn't have enough qualitative data. Now, I think we're really seeing some good data showing us a big difference between TGP1 and TGP2.
At first, TGP2 was only right in principal. Now, it is right in practice.

Evil Chris,
first of all, the rates you saw are the old ones.
due to various factors not limited to "sont représentés dans le plan et permettent ainsi de dessiner tout point de l'espace à l'aide de combinaisons linéaires de ceux-ci."
if you know what I mean,
the rates were dropped and the Text Link is now only $1000 a month.
2) secondary,
5 times on your money?
let's see,
investment which brings 500% a month,
while money market rates in USA are only 2 .56% a YEAR,
should be one heck of an investment,
right next with:
selling coke
robbing banks
stealing Save Pets charity money from 7-11
I think you are a bit dilussional.
thirdly,
if you REALLY believe in that
"Most likely not, but it makes for a nice chunk of deductible advertising expenses at the end of the fiscal year.
"
PLEASE send ALL your money to Oprano,
you'll have ZERO taxes to pay and we'll probably gonna go broke paying 40% federal income tax.
please put us out of our misery,
and WIRE all your money TODAY!

Serge I was just looking at your ad rates for Oprano, and a few questions sprang to mind.
Now I've purchased some target advertising in webmaster resources before, and frankly I haven't had a whole lot of return on my money.
In my experience, I figure that one should get back about 5 times the money they directly put into this kind of targeted advertising.
Webmaster resource advertising can get quite expensive indeed. Of course there are some out there who want the best spots on every board there is, and in these cases, it's probably more about branding a very well known program or service. But are they getting 5 times their money or better? Are they even getting twice their money back? I'm not convinced that they are. Do they care? Most likely not, but it makes for a nice chunk of deductible advertising expenses at the end of the fiscal year.
thats good news. Meni and Brad have patched up their differences.

** My apologies for the cut and paste nature of the following post, however I need to distribute this information across as many webmaster boards and resource sites as possible... **
LEGAL NOTIFICATION to all licensees of the WWW-Women Series, produced and distributed by N&L Photography: The majority of WWW-Women Photo CDs were issued with the limitation of using the content, on up to a maximum of 3 domains or 3 websites within a domain. N&L Photo recognizes that in this changing market, more flexibility and website exposure is needed by the adult webmaster. To this end, ALL WWW-Women CD Licenses that have been issued, are retroactively being modified, to raise the allowed number of websites to 5 domains or 5 websites within a domain. Nothing has to be done on the part of the webmaster, however licensees are encouraged to make a notation of this revision in their license copies.
Also, licensees of the WWW-Women CD, Volume 1 (which comprises the majority of license holders), will want to check out the site at
One of the original objections raised about the WWW-Women CD Volume 1, was the visible copyright branding on the side of the photos. This entire CD has now been remastered, with the visible copyright bar removed, and the photos digitally watermarked. Any webmasters that currently have the WWW-Women CD Volume 1, may at their choosing, upgrade their existing CD for this re-mastered CD, for $5.00 to cover media and shipping costs. (Slightly higher for foriegn shipping). This original CD has also been split up into a two disc set, to make this series more affordable to new customers. Original licensees will receive both discs, when upgrading.
If anyone has any questions regarding these changes, please feel free to email me,
or call at (800) 340-6579.
Also, as in my case, I am not on the computer 18 hours a day anymore. When I am on I try to actually get some work done so I can get off the darn thing;-)
