Just wanted to clarify some points re The Statistician:)

Mike who in your opinion are big boys? We tested some big programs this week.

Some of the sites requested tests and some didnt. We are trying to be as independant as we can in selecting sites and are happy to take requests and suggestions:)

CE have a banner on the paper because they requested one the first day it was issued.

The reason why more CE sites werent tested was because of the Free join they have, we will be trying to test programs that run the same way, we hope to start testing on recurring and free programs plus the software progys coming out.

We will also be starting live testing of hosting companies, processors and other resources in the next few weeks:)

Mike, did you actually read the paper? Most of the sites tested are sponsors at Netpond...will we lose sponsors? Maybe, we thought long and hard about that issue.

At the end of the day we tried to balance everything by mixing traffic, if Aga was to send pure SE traffic im sure most sponsors would perform well, however most webmasters dont have SE traffic in the same quanitities so its watered down with traffic of lesser quality.

We will be fine tuning the traffic mix but need to start somewhere and sites will all be retested at some stage with different traffic.

For most webmasters the days of 1:300 traffic is long gone, most webmasters are doing alot worse than that, alot of newer webmasters think the net is still a goldmine, there expectations of traffic quality and earnings potential are not realistic, all the Statistician does is point out that most traffic converts worse than 1:1000 its a fact not a secret.

its not a refelection of Sponsors being good or bad based on conversion ratios, We are noticing that most sponsors have some sites that perform very well, webmasters may target sites better because of the paper.

Re discrepancies in click counts, well we only count what we send, programs all have there own counting methods, some sites that count second page earn more than some sites counting first page, its an indicator thats all.

Hope thats clarified some things:)

My opinion at this time is that either people have really crappy software that can not count a hit or they did not learn now to count in school from what I see on that site.

Now you might be right, those numbers might also be at fault but is seems that when there is a patteren of different sites, on the same programs all counting short that something is not right.

I just wanted to give an unsolictied shoutout to Insite Investments. I've had some weird things happening with my mail lately and had notcied that I'd missed a few checks from Insite. They were pretty small, so I overlooked them. Well, then I'm checking stats and noctied I hadn't changed my mailing address in the stats area. So Angela assisted me and issued new checks without any questions. They were still going to the old address due to the new address not being on their offline computer. So I emailed her again with the correct address and she immediately stepped into action and personally saw that new checks were issued.

I just wanted to give a big thank you to Insite adn especially Angela who helped out (and these were puny checks too). She went above and beyond to assist me and I truly appreciate it. THAT's service.

So, if any of you are questioning Insite, then question no more and use these guys. JohnIP, you and your staff are truly a class act. All too often on the boards, all we see are pissing matches and people snipping at each other, so I decided to post a shout out to a truly class organization.

about that article, it appears to me that they used mainly white children that were from a middle class home.

KK I read the article as well - I think that number is very high. we would be talking about 1% of all children - that would be a HUGE number. This is an article probably written by someone who wanted to do well, but did not comprehend the numbers.
