My conversions have been down almost across the board - this is the worst month since I started :(

Most consumer complaints were that they "didn't know" they were being billed. Yes, we all know the disclaimers were there (at least the ones I saw), but w/o pulling out a CC, giving a checking account number or picking up the phone and dialing, the process of "paying" was invisible to them until the bill came. In addition, when the bill DID come, it wasn't for a $29.95 membership - it was as much as thousands of dollars with the average seeming to be around $350 - that's a wad of cash and the complaints rolled in.....

I agree that dialers can be very easily misused...

The biggest issue I see with dialers is how honestly and clearly they disclose their rates & whether they institute automatic cutoffs after a certain period of time (aka 20 minutes).

Any payment method will have those that choose to abuse it... as an industry we can't confuse bad people with bad products ;-))

We have always used checks, at one point due to our pricing structures, we were at 50/50 checks and CC's.

Now we do 15% checks sign-ups. But, checks account for roughly 33% of our gross income from sign-ups. Do your own math;-)

Just started with Bill/WTS about 1.5 months ago & i've never seen better returns on an investment... I expect that in 9 months we'll be doing as much rebill volume on checks as we currently do on credit cards.

When you get back can you address these concerns as well?

So why isn’t everybody cutting out the credit cards?

Here are several good reasons why:

1. Not everybody is comfortable putting in their checking account information, see the part above where I said checks, 900, and dialers don’t take away from credit cards.
2. Its still 7 to 10 days for a check to clear, all that time the surfer has access, leaves the same taste in my mouth as free trails.
3. Currently there is no federal statue in the US that says anyone who has a checking account is considered a legal adult (there is for credit cards), I’m sure there are local laws BUT…


Also its still really easy to fraud out a online check - what % are no money in the account and % are frauds in revokes?

(did I tell you we were found by ATS about the customer who still get's his recur bills from the site closed in 1997??????,
NO, we didn't want the money, no, no, no!)

the reasons are:
1) your credit card number expires from time to time -
your checking acount does not

2) if you pay rent, mortgage, electricity, insurance, etc,
there is ALWAYS money in your acount,
credit cards can get maxed.
